Simchat Torah, the last holiday of the Hebrew month of Tishrei, ended at sunset on Monday, and, as is traditional every year, revelers took to the streets to dance with Torah scrolls in the celebrations of hakafot.
As every year, Ynet was there to cover some of the country's celebrations. This year, live feeds were provided from Tel Aviv's Rabin Square and the Eshkol Regional Council nearby the Gaza Strip.
In Tel Aviv's Rabin Square, several bands, including Lev TAhor and Tzilei HaOud performed for the hakafot celebrations. The ceremony began with blowing of the shofar, which marked the end of the holidays of Tishrei and as a sign of solidarity with Israel. The city's chief rabbi, Yisrael Meir Lau, welcomed those assembled.
Eshkol's mayor said to Ynet that the hakafot celebrations "are especially celebratory and bring together all the populations in the council in shared happiness: religious, secular, women, men and children, together will soldiers of the Gaza Division that serve in the region and defend us day and night."
