High Court delays appointment of IDF Chief Rabbi over past comments
The High Court has issued a temporary injunction delaying the appointment of Eyal Karim to the post of Chief Rabbi of the IDF following past remarks against homosexuals and women and statements on refusing orders.
Head of the panel, Judge Miriam Naor, said, "We want to hear what he has to say. What his position was then, what it is now and if he has changed his mind."
Within two days, the High Court is required to file an answer setting forth its position, including the deposition of Karim. The ceremony inducting the IDF Chief Rabbi is scheduled for Wednesday.
