The project provides an amazing glimpse of the different ways in which our planet is changing —through processes such as deforestation, glacial movement, urbanization, and wars. The project site can choose from a number of points of interest around the world, including Antarctica where one can watch fluctuations in ice, Las Vegas, where urbanization is well documented and Israel, where changes in the Dead Sea are most apparent.
Aside from the target sites, any other point on the map may be chosen independently. More than five million satellite images were used to create the "time lapse" project in order to give people a more visual understanding of the changes occurring on earth.
