On Sunday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu signed a letter of resignation from his position as Minister of Communications. Two days later, according to Braverman, Hasson apparently spread a letter on Twitter signed by Netanyahu indicating that he had resigned as Prime Minister.
“MK Hasson was not satisfied with just forging the letter, but he also added a section saying ‘why just from the Ministry of Communications? Here Netanyahu, I also made this for you, all that’s left is to send it.’ I am confident of the severity of the act, a deliberate manipulation of a letter from the Prime Minister while using his signature, which is clearly an offense under the law,” wrote Braverman to Mandelblit.
In response, Hasson said, “I am honored to accept criticism from the master of Netanyahu fake news and forgeries. It’s nice to know that the prime minister, who should be worrying about threats on the scale of Iran, Hezbollah or Hamas, prefers to go head-to-head with a Twitter joke. It is clear that Netanyahu understands his political end is near and as such, every Twitter jab becomes an existential threat to him. Even this violent and brutal move by Netanyahu will not stop me from working to replace him.”
