J'lem resident, 2 Palestinians indicted for transferring funds to Gaza and terrorist released as part of Shalit swap

The state attorney's office indicted 25-year-old Hamas operative Ahmad Hassan, currently in prison for security offenses, Saad Abu Varda, a Gaza resident staying in Israel illegally, and Iman Salhab, 42, of Jerusalem. The indictment was made at the Nazareth District Court.

The three were charged with contact with a foreign agent, membership of a terrorist organization and money laundering.

The indictment alleges that while he was employed in Israel, Abu Varda transferred funds to his family in Gaza. Towards that end, he employed Salhab and with another person acting as mediator transferred funds to the West Bank, as restitution for a Hamas prisoner released as part of the Gilad Shalit prisoner swap.
