Senior Hamas member injured in shooting incident in Gaza

There are conflicting reports regarding the circumstances in which Imad al-Alami, a senior Hamas member, sustained a gunshot wound in Gaza on Tuesday. One source claims he accidentally shot himself in the head with his own weapon at his home. He may have attempted suicide as he is suffering from cancer. It is also possible that it was an assassination attempt.

Al-Alami immigrated to Gaza from Syria after the Syrian civil war broke out.

He was responsible for activities relating to the military wing of Hamas in the West Bank.
