The Lod District Court sentenced Alla Abu Shnab, 21, of the West Bank to three years in prison Monday.
Abu Shnab was initially charged with preparation to commit a terror-related murder and entering Israel illegally after being arrested in Netanya carrying a knife in 2017.
The decision was reached as part of a plea bargain, due to evidential difficulties surfacing after the indictment, following which he was convicted of the lesser charge of preparation for terrorism.
The difficulties arising and coming to the State Attorney's Office attention created doubt whether he intended to harm civilians and raised the possibility he wished to be arrested.
