Lieberman: We must strike Hamas

Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman said Tuesday the time has come to deliver a "heavy blow" to Gaza's militant Hamas leaders, after weeks of border violence.

Lieberman said he'll recommend doing so when Israel's security Cabinet meets the following day, since it's "the only way to lower the level of violence to zero or close to zero."

"We are not willing to accept the violence we see week after week," he told reporters in the Gaza Division, adding that "the State of Israel and the defense establishment have done everything in their power to reach the situation of March 29, before the outbreak of violence."

"We have to strike Hamas, this is the only way to quiet in the region," the minister concluded.
