WIZO: domestic violence is on the rise
According to WIZO, the Women's International Zionist Organization, the number of women murdered by their relatives since the beginning of 2018 has continued to rise and stands at 21— a 30% increase from last year. About half of the women murdered in the last two years filed police complaints.
In addition, about 200,000 battered women and half a million children who witnessed violence live in Israel. Every day, an average of 50 cases of domestic violence are opened, and a total of more than 13,000 women have been treated for violence in the past year.
