UN security council to discuss U.S. shift on legality of settlements

The UN security council will convene Wednesday to discuss U.S. secretary Mike Pompeo's announcement on the legality of West Bank settlements.

Pompeo said the administration is backing away from its previous position that the settlements were inconsistent with international law.

Israel's ambassador to the UN Danny Danon said Israel's right to the land of Israel is not only based on historic rights but is in accordance with universal justice and international law.
