Lehi and Irgun did not intentionally attack civilians and they were only created after unprevoked Arab violence against Jews (1920,1921,1929,1936-39 and many more) accompined by impotentic British response in the form of "Arabs kill Jews so we should punish the Jews" (White paper 1,2 and 3). I am shocked that you are "taught" that all Israelis are not equal in civil rights, human rights and under the law. Israel is a democracy and every citizen of the State of Israel has the same rights whether he is Jewish, Moslem, Christian, Druze or any other religion and irrespective of his race or color! At the time of the Viet Nam “boat people” crisis, Israel took in about six thousand refugees and granted them full immigrant rights as would be afforded to any Jewish immigrant and today these people and their children are Israeli citizens. A matter concerning many and lauded by some is that marriage between Jews and non-Jews is not sanctioned by the Rabbinate although the Ministry of the Interior does recognize marriages of this nature performed outside of Israel. Gay rights are recognized by the courts, however, Gay and Lesbian marriage is not sanctioned by the State. However, in a recent Family Court decision, same sex parents were awarded custody of a child. This decision was a milestone in Israeli democracy although condemned by religious groups and homophobes. Israelis are a lot more tolerant regarding alternative lifestyles than Americans and particularly the Bush Administration. First of all, you need to step out of this mindset of "victim". The jews were victims 60 years ago...but since gaining sovereignty over a country formed by outsiders "Israel", you have since become the oppresors and bullies you so often rant against. Israeli soldiers have killed just as many palestinians, and both sides will continue this bloodshed until cooler heads prevail. And believe me, I understand the tactic.
