Daniel ,   Amsterdam   (06.22.06)
Other fundamentalists would threaten bloody murder, ours threaten with disease. That Jewish rabbi's threaten Sharon's fate instead of Rabin's fate, shows that Judaism is doing pretty fine in the grand scheme of things. It appears there has been a hesbon nefesh after all. Just don't loose it, ok.
2. Here we go again ,
Secular Sabra ,   Israel   (06.22.06)
It wasn't enough the incitement we had 10 years ago that led to Rabin's assassination ?? Then the death threats leveled at Sharon by the religious far-right ? Now it's Olmert's turn ???? Messianic lunatics !!!! Israel is a secular Democracy , we want to move forward not to be dragged back into a religious Theocracy and into the Middle Ages !!
3. Genoug me'de Shtuyas, already!

4. Mullahs
Jeremiah ,   USA   (06.22.06)
What's the difference between them and the Mullahs in Iran? Did they make the announcement at the Yigal Amir training ground?
5. the only incitement
Yisraeli   (06.22.06)
comes from the looney left, the criminals who hold government and theyre minions like shabak and police in Yesha. But as soon as someone from the right or one who respects his jewish religion or religeous in appearance then they are quick to charge them with incitement. The ultimate irony is that they the 'non jews' pretend to be the guardians of democracy but in reality behave as facists trying to erase any opinions not to theyre liking. Just like #2 above.
6. well said. these are real rabbis
gabriela ben ari   (06.22.06)
7. It's hard to believe
NYC Girl   (06.22.06)
that in a modern country like Israel, these religious reactionaries are invoking curses and all sorts of medieval idiocy. And what I would respectfully (or maybe not so respectfully) ask the Rabbi is "If God had the power to cause Sharon to be stricken with a debilitating illness...why the hell didn't He have the power to do anything about Hitler?" What utter nonsense.
8. Alarmist
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (06.22.06)
Rabbi Wolpe represents the end-of-the-world-is-upon-us alarmists among us. I do not agree with his assessments. Have a bit of faith in G-d's Plan and much more patience.
9. Omerts must leave for US
Josh ,   Jerusalem   (06.22.06)
Guys in US, can you just give him enoough money so he can leave for USA, for good. Where are US billioners? They can support all his children in US and do not bother us.
10. Computer error
Ragusa   (06.22.06)
I found an error in my computer. It states the year 2006 but surely it most be 1806. Oh Boy
11. Rabbis don't suffer from diseases?
Michael ,   Tel Aviv   (06.22.06)
Obviously Rabbi Dov Wolpe believes to know that a stroke has to be God's punishment instead of a consequence of unhealthy way of living. Sounds reasonable to me!
12. The people we trust
Sam ,   Canada   (06.22.06)
Ariel Sharon didn't have the stroke because of being an elderly, obese man in a stessful job. He had it, says the rabbi because of the evacuation This is another case of people using their positions of authority over trusting minds to try and impose their own preferences.

can substitue himself to God . Religion is a matter of personal faith...not political propaganda ....
19. ...and Rabbi Dov Wolpe may suffer in jail.
Gerd ,   Germany   (06.22.06)
20. Wonderful folks these rabbis
Jerry ,   Eilat   (06.22.06)
When I was in high school, I remember a talk with a few teachers who spoke about "organized religion" being the source of much evil. As someone who is considered observant I read articles like this or others that speak with the certainty of knowing God's word and am incensed. More damage is done to the religious aspects of Judaism here by the orthodox and Charadi rabbis than any other group. THey make a mockery of our the fantastic potential of our way of life. Rabbi Wolpe confirms what many of us think and know and some of us would prefer not to say.
21. Rabbi Wolpe
robert whitehill ,   potomac md   (06.22.06)
for someone to pontificate that he knows the divine plan--that so and so isbeing puynished for such and such act--is in itself an act of foolish egotism. Judaism mteaches that everything goes accroding to plan--but that man is not in a position to understand shy things happen--such is the message of the book of Job. Apparently, Rabbi Wolpe and some other religious leaders seem to have claims to Direct Server Access.
22. Messianic Rabbi Wolpe
Ben ,   Israel   (06.22.06)
Messianic rabbi wolpe does not represent Judaism and not even Chabad. He is a Meshichist which translates messianic! Though he is a born Jew he practices a different religion than Judaism. So whatever he says is not from a Jewish Torah point of view. Perhaps the greatest favor the State of israel could do for the Jews is to lock this man up in jail and let him preach about his dead messiah to the arabs and maybe convert them!
23. incitement?! is this a democracy, or only for leftists?
concerned rightist   (06.22.06)
24. Why this uproar against the Rabbi???
Nachum ,   USA   (06.22.06)
The Rabbi has not hurt any one. The Rabbi is merely saying that there is reward and punishment. Why not the uproar against the policies of Sharon and Olmert that has caused so many jews so much suffering by expulsion and we are reaping the fruits of daily Kassams lobbying in Israel. Stop blaming the people who care about Hashem his Torah and his People.
25. Kol Hakavod.
Choni Davidowitz ,   Israel (and S.A.)   (06.22.06)
Chazak v"ematz ! Rabbi Wolpe I urge you to enlist all the Rebbe's Chasidim to come to Eretz Yisrael to stop the evil decree.
26. He says "We saw what the Almighty can do"
Reverend Hu Shakran ,   Jerusalem   (06.22.06)
Yes, we certainly did during the Shoah. Only a fool can make a statement like that. Doing so implies that God is evil because there is far more bad than good going on these days.
27. The difficulty with new pronouncements
Steve ,   USA   (06.22.06)
B"H I can see the best option is to quote Caleb ben Nun, of the tribe of Jehuda: QUOTE: Caleb tried to quiet the people for Moses. 'We must go forth and occupy the land,' he said. 'We can do it!' .... Among the men who had explored the land, Joshua son of Nun and Caleb son of Yefuneh tore their clothes in grief. They said to the whole Israelite community, 'The land through which we passed in our explorations is a very, very good land! If God is satisfied with us and brings us to this land, He can give it to us - a land flowing with milk and honey. ... But don't rebel against God! Don't be afraid of the people in the land! They have lost their protection and shall be our prey! God is with us, so don't be afraid!' ... The Almighty is quoted: The only exception will be My servant Caleb, since he showed a different spirit and followed Me wholeheartedly. I will bring him to the land that he explored, and his descendants will possess it. END QUOTE Is that contrary to the current state of Israel, where the Jewish people have wholeheartedly come to possess the land? The difficulty with new pronouncements instead of quoting pronouncements clearly already made is as follows: 1. The left wing uses these pronouncements as cover for further action. For example, I did not see evidence that Rabin was murdered by a right-wing elelement, yet the entire right-wing was blamed for the murder. 2. What has been necessary has already been said. Why add to that? To quote the bible is not incitement. It is a statement of fact of what was said. I cannot place myself in place of the Almighty. But if I were to share a vision with the Prime Minister, I would say that the withdrawals are very dangerous for his rule in my perspective and I would encourage him to change in favor of supporting those who are truly supporting him and the entire Jewish people. The first step would be to ask Peretz to give his final approval to those settlements requiring his signature to be deemed legal. I am not sure why Sharon is in his current state, but it is the same sort of condition that affected Arafat in his final days. If one sees a danger, it is an obligation to warm those who face the danger. If, on the other hand, one sees an opportunity, than why not go forth?
28. Sharon's fate
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (06.22.06)
Who assassinated Sharon?
29. Peres, Sharon, Olmert and other crazy fanatics
Yariv ,   Tel Aviv   (06.22.06)
I believe the Rabbi does not want another 1500 Jews dead. How you deal with fanatics like Peres, sharon, olmert, Beilin and other crazies. The do one big mistake after the other and then call us hysterical. How would you put them next to Sharon or Sharon jr (in jail). They just salavating with joy when they see another Kassam strikes Israel.
