61. Hari kari? Not Olmert, not Kadima!
SL ,   New York   (05.01.07)
In traditional Japan, anyone who lost face, who was publicly humiliated, who lost his self-esteem, would know what to do. He would take out his sword and commit suicide. In contrast, with Olmert--the Big O--we cannot even expect that he will part his hair differently, let alone resign. What utter chutzpah. What lack of honor and dignity. The people of Israel should insist that these failed leaders exit stage left (apropo of their convictions), post haste. Now is the time for legal, peaceful, mass demonstrations, with one simple sign: "RESIGN!".

both lost. now you circle the right answer... A. beirut and lebanon destroyed 1,000 people dead minimal housing left standing 500-800 hizbullah terrorists dead entire homes destroyed, infrastructure, economy dead, people living in tents, no water systems, electricity, etc.. nasrallah in a bunker and fearing for his life nasrallah not able to free thousands of prisoners terrorists from israeli jails, etc... the situation in lebanon back to 20 years ago, country is gone! and finally nasrallah and saniora begging the un with tears in eyes to stop the israeli campaign and war in front of the un B. olmert was a putz and incompetent 120 some soldiers and civilan casualties some homes destroyed by qasaams without major damage to any infrastructure, the economy is the best it is in many many years, israel is standing and striving, no major pain....and most important a new leadership is on the horizon...that i would really worry about because our new military commander is one heck of a military hero. so watch out. once a new government in israel establishes itself, the white gloves are off and you, nasrallah and hizbulla are dust. thanks god the winograd comminion came out because this will unite and bring together israelis and military to never ever make such mistakes, while you arabs will never learn no matter how much you try that israel is here to stay and that you won't ever see your terrorists back. shalit will be captured by the idf one day and you won't know what happened to you.

at least the Jews have had a history going back centuries in that land. What right do you have over Australia that was settled by Black Aboriginal people for thousands of years that you and your ilks stole?
67. Livni instead of Olmert: "Abu Efes" Peretz MUST GO!!!
Former Belgian ,   Greater Tel-Aviv   (05.01.07)
Chalutz was the only one of the three to have the guts to Replace Olmert by Livni, I say. And Amir "Abu Efes" Peretz must not be let near ANY responsible job EVER again. If they have to keep this clown around, create a new position for him, like "Chief Windbag" or "Chief Monkey-spanker".
68. olmert and peretz, the blood of your brothers calling
REUVEN ,   USA   (05.01.07)
ON YOU TO RESIGN.YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE.
69. PEOPLE, pay attention: Winograd mentions the PAST as well.
sk ,   USA   (05.01.07)
Winograd added that "many others" shared responsibility for the severe failures he highlighted, and turned his attention to previous Israeli governments which allowed Hizbullah to set up base on Israel's border. The ability of Hizbullah to sit on the border, and dictate the level of escalation, was made possible by the 2000 retreat of the IDF from southern Lebanon." This is precisely the kind of conclusion that even the usually prescient Caroline Glick did not expect. This is not a narrow criticism of a couple of clowns now in office.
70. #34: your name isn't "peter" but "mohammed"
sk ,   USA   (05.01.07)
You don't even speak standard English.
71. Former Belgian (67) ARE YOU INSANE, or just a DUPE?
sk ,   USA   (05.01.07)
Forgive me for my rudeness, but really, how could you, an English speaker, be unfamiliar with the devastating critiques of Livni by, for example, Caroline Glick at JPost? Do you not know that Zippity-do-dah was the "mastermind" of that disastrous UNIFIL that now shields Hezbollah? Are you aware that bird-brain doesn't speak English and is therefore unable to articulate Israel's position to Europe, let alone America, in a convincing way? You think Israel benefits when the Arabs have eloquent English speakers and Israel does not? And what, precisely, is Zippity's qualification for being PM? Does she have unusual merit in ANYTHING? Oh yeah, I almost forgot: she is entirely self-serving. Formerly a "hawk," now she's a Peace Now leftist, just like Peretz.
72. Tweedle Dee, Tweedle Dumb and Tweedle Dumbest
Esther ,   Ofarim, Israel   (05.01.07)
Tweedle Dee (Halutz) resigned. Tweedle Dumb (Olmert) - I wish he would resign. But, who is going to replace him? There is NO ONE I would feel comfortable casting my vote for. Bibi? He has been one of the worst PMs Israel has ever had and I don't feel that he is trustworthy either. Barak? Don't make me laugh. Tweedle Dumbest (Peretz) is still refusing to smell the coffee. He was a troublemaker and rabble rouser when he ran the Histadrut and now he is an arrogant putz hanging on to his power seat by the skin of his nails. I hope the other misguided fools of the Labor party will vote his ass out. I wish I had an answer to this dilemma. Currently there is no experienced leadership to be had in Israel. Hopefully there will still be a country left by the time the next crop of leaders matures. What a terrible terrible tragedy that we had to loose so many good soldiers because our "esteemed leaders" are stupid.

75. #72 (Esther) on Bibi
sk ,   USA   (05.01.07)
Esther, you say "There is NO ONE I would feel comfortable casting my vote for. Bibi? He has been one of the worst PMs Israel has ever had and I don't feel that he is trustworthy either." Where did you learn this? From the same sources that supported your previous vote for Olmert or Peretz (the two top vote getters)? Do I think Bibi is "trustworthy"? No. Do I think he trustworthy is in comparison to the current crowd? Oh yes. On what basis do you believe otherwise? How on earth could you say that he was "one of the worst PMs Israel has ever had"? Terrorism barely existed under his reign. Rabin, Peres, Barak, and Olmert were/are much, much inferior in their actual performance. Bibi is extremely eloquent in English, he is a wiz in finance, and he has a high IQ. One last thing. Sharon shredded his party to expel Jews from Gaza. I doubt Bibi would try the same thing (or that he could pull it off). Right now there is nontrivial number of Feiglinites in Likud. Their great merit is in discouraging Bibi from doing the one thing that I fear he might do: make more land giveaways to the Arab enemy, despite what he says. (PMs have a habit of doing this.)
76. #73 (Tayfun): massacre? I think you mean ...
sk ,   USA   (05.01.07)
... Turkey's actions against the Armenians.
77. To 76 No, Armenian Issue was also preperation for Israel
Tayfun_Turkey ,   Istanbul   (05.01.07)
Zionist, organized world wide in several organization including especaillay Freemasonary who decided wars and peaces, all bloody schems of last two century needed to end Ottoman Empire to establish Israel. Now when we look back we can understand better, it was all because zionist aspiring to get Palestine and Jarusalem. They needed Ottoman empire collapse, they did. Armenians are used as tool, just as you know use Kurds in Northern Iraq!
78. Geez, Tayfun (77)), you're a loony.
sk ,   USA   (05.02.07)
I've visited Turkey, and I know that conspiracy theories are always preferred in the Middle East over any other theories, but you're a nut even by Middle East standards. So the Ottomans slaughtered over a million Armenians because the Armenians were tools of the Zionists? Hey, since we're (Zionists) using the Kurds now, do you plan to slaughter them too?
