61. # 57 Katzav
Guy ,   Israel   (06.13.07)
great contributer, elder statesman, great thinker ?
62. # 52 I propose
Guy ,   Israel   (06.13.07)
In light of what you say I propose we make the 'Almighty" Prime Minister, President, Chief of staff and Minister of Defense. Surely then our troubles will be over.
63. #57 And yes again he wll help carve your land up.
(06.13.07)
With the help of Barak, and Olmert your once beautiful land given back to you by Hashem(and not for your leaders to give away) will be sliced and diced and given back to the phillistines until they have pushed you out to the sea. And I can just see you now on that day trying to convince the logical voice of reason how that was the very best you could do and and how very proud you can be.
64. Two sad days in a row. That's too much.
Caroline ,   Israel   (06.13.07)
If there's no way to get rid of the sticky failed politicians, the only thing I can say today that at least they did not rape or steal... well... not much apparently. If this is the best we can have, we have to make the best of it *sigh*.
65. Terry #35 - you're right as usual!
Caroline ,   Israel   (06.13.07)
66.  #56 To charles the moron and putz
Hiam ,   Judea   (06.13.07)
Not all of us cheered when peres was elected, nor did we cheer when he went behind Begins back and began the discussions for Olso accord. We tried back then to let the world know that this was a bad deal. He may not have power, but he does have infulence. Besides your'e not a Jew anyway, nor were you in Israel when Sharon was PM, so don't try to pass yourself off as an historian of Israeli politics. So I now I can tell you that you are the ignorant on who really needs to shut-up.
67. #24 - Pro-Peres TBs on Hebrew Ynet: they are paid supporters
Otter ,   Canada   (06.13.07)
It's a well-oiled PR machine. It's an established fact that people get hired to write TBs. Our English language TBs are more genuine. The names are familiar, and so are their views. I trust this English version more. Too bad that the electorate in Israel is not trusted to make the decision to choose their leaders. This is a Soviet-inspired system that should be overhauled as soon as possible.
68. #63 Thank you for your opinion
Kate ,   Jerusalem   (06.13.07)
Unfortunately, its not a very relevent one. The Philistines were pretty much assimilated or anihilated around 2800 years ago. We're not really worried about them now.
69. #46 Talula
enzo ,   london,uk   (06.13.07)
Talula, please...I'm trying to relax here! I've had such a busy day...!

71. Hiam , Judea
charles ,   petach tikva   (06.13.07)
The only thing you can do is insulting , that shows only your high IQ . Regarding being Jewish , i'm certainly more than many of those money suckers we have in this country , you included . But , i'll tell you , not only are you an ignorant in politics , Israel's history , but more regarding my person , and personal history .
72. Otter , Canada
charles ,   petach tikva   (06.13.07)
And who pays you for saying stupidities ? And those english tb's names genuine ? all those anonymous ? those who are ashamed to give their true name ? And your name , also genuine ? Sad mentality .
73. Writing on the wall
Don Cole ,   Hood River, OR, USA   (06.13.07)
PERES, thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.' He makes no secret that he wants to divide Israel and hand it over to our enemies. Why do you think Olmert helped him, he has the same plan.
74. #71 So many words yet you said NOTHING intelligent
Hiam ,   Judea   (06.13.07)
75. peres wins,Israel loses!
jason white ,   afula,israel   (06.13.07)
We had a p.m. no one wants shove a new president down our throats. Wait for oslo two. I hope the next Prime Minister has peres forcibly removed from the President's Residence. Real democracy! We the people did not elect him. The knesset gang did with the help of another old fool.
76. shame on many talkbackers
avramele   (06.13.07)
all three candidates each in their own way had deserving characteristics and Peres certainly has the history and outside prestige to do us honor. He was never my favorite politician but the architect of the IDF and the constructive PM and partner in 2 national unity governments has certainly earned a shot at this position. those who oppose him here on line are implicitly saying that political correctness should always dictate one's stature as a citizen and statesman and that a lifetime of service to our people counts for nothing. as a leftist I would make the same case for Jabotinsky and Begin and back in the 60's rejoiced along with many when the former was finally buried in Israel. A people and a state are sustained by the contributions of all.
77. Jason white , Afula
charles ,   petach tikva   (06.13.07)
You are right , we did'nt elect him , but we elected the Knesseth members , this knesseth you call a gang , and more than 80 out of 120 from them voted for Him . This other "fool" as you call him , it's the first time in his [ long] life that he did something correct .
78. Shimon Peres
freejay ,   Israel   (06.14.07)
Shimon Peres, the man who is more and more likely to go down in history book as as the only human in history who single-handedly destroyed his own country Lieutenant Colonel Shlomo Baum, of blessed memory, once described him... "Shimon Peres doesn't care if the entire state turns into a heap of ashes -- as long as he is standing at the top of the heap."
79. #67 "Pro-Peres TBs on Hebrew Ynet: they are paid supporters"
Daniel ,   Tel Aviv   (06.14.07)
Yea, right. 1,000 PR talkbacks, with about 60 that got the Red "popularity seal". heheh.... People are dancing in the streets here! you clueless fanatic... "Our English language TBs are more genuine. The names are familiar, and so are their views. I trust this English version more..." Of course you'll prefer this version. it's full of religious Canadis and American Kahanists. People who represents Less then 12% of the Israeli population!!!! Bye Bye, I'm gonna to a party now. MAZAL TO LA PRESIDENT PERES!
80. Replacing Katsav with OSLO Pardons
Steve ,   USA   (06.14.07)
B"H I wonder on which day the major Arab murderers of Jews go free under the pen that signed the OSLO sword against the Jewish people. I truly saddened by this man's election by the Kenesset to a post that would enable the freeing of criminals to repeat their crimes. But there is nothing to do now except wait for the next general elections. Perhaps the electorate will wise up. For now, this is the consequence of the last Kenesset election that Israel is having to pay.
81. Peres THE APPEASER:jewish blood on his hands
andy ,   orlando,fl   (06.14.07)
Peres might be a veteran leader but he has veered off the path of common sense,by trying to negotiate with terrorists.Peres is the death knell of Israel. He should retire along with Olmert and his cronies.
82. #2--Are you kidding?
Yehudit   (06.14.07)
In case you are not, this is Shimon PERES, who to my knowledge has never had a mustache. The Defense Minister with a moustache is Amir PERETZ.
83. ALL THE FOREIGNERS MUST READ #79 Daniel!!
Kipi Ben Kipud   (06.14.07)
84. #77 - charles - "we" elected no one
threat hunter ,   eisham, israel   (06.14.07)
charles and others who are defending the current israeli system of government: it is UNACCOUNTABLE. NO ONE in the Knesset was voted for by the people. THE PARTIES make their lists according to political games. if you're not on a party list, you can't get a seat in parliament. MKs do not represent ANY constituencies. MKs merely represent what share of the vote their party got. The hierarchy of the list is controlled by the oldest and most connected political players in each party. it's that simple. And IT IS CORRUPT. THERE IS A SOLUTION! Accountability through DIRECT ELECTIONS. Myself, Terry and others who have been sharing this view here and in other fora are suggesting that the whole system in Israel needs to be changed. Another election will not change anything. if you understand anything about REPRESENTATIVE democracy, then you will understand that Israel needs to move away from its tradition of Combina and Protectzia. Israel needs to transform one more industry ... the Political Industry ... into the meritocracy that it should be. Anything less than that, remains Corrupt. As the guy from OyVey.co.il said, today's news headline should be: The "Greatest Loser" Defeats No One To Win Greatest Victory of His Political Life! Shalom.
85. #79 - Daniel, keep on dancing while your Titanic sinks

89. anti-peres = right wing loser!
(06.14.07)
90. To 84 unther
charles ,   petach tikva   (06.14.07)
Listen , i've lived in a galut country for many years , and i know , better than you , how more democratic elections are to be held . There it was so : the parties made up their lists of candidates . The voter can give a vote to the list , or to one person of the list . This system , very complicated , i said it already many times is better . Well to change this situation here , become a member of your favorite party , and then you can also influence this list . If you do'nt do this , you have no right to complain .
