1. How sad....
Zoey ,   Tel Aviv   (04.16.08)
It is really time to make Gaza into a Parking Lot!!!! Enough. Maybe Jimmy Carter can be there at the same time that we do that!
2. What I don't understand...
Bernd ,   Germany   (04.16.08)
...is why are still soldiers sent into Gaza? If a terrorist cell is spotted why is the IDF still trying to arrest them instead of taking them out by helicopter or other means? I have never been in the military and thus have no knowledge in this respect - maybe it is not possible to target them from across the border for instance by bombing the area? Bernd
3. To No. 1
Gazian ,   Palestine   (04.16.08)
What do you expect Israel solders came to kill pals, should we give them som candies?? this the way you understad ( I hope)
4. Heroes
Ariel ,   Jerusalem   (04.16.08)
How heroes fall? hiye zichram baruch
5. the loss of every single israeli life hurts
Jb   (04.16.08)
my thoughts are with the families.
6. Bush Olmert to help Hamas get more weapons
Marcel ,   Florida   (04.16.08)
Of course this is the insanity Israel allows for the non existent peace. For the cause of 'peace' and so that Israel may suffer more painful concessions the Islamic terrorists in Gaza have been allowed to become better armed, trained and a much greater threat. The stooge Olmert obeys his puppet master Bsuh in not ending the Gaza threat once and for all.He just permits limited, restrained incursions which now bring certain death to Israel's finest . Under the Bush Olmert watch more deadly weapons have flooded into Gaza and all for their fruad peace. Shouldn't they be commended for their wise actions in bringing the new and improved Gaza to us ? Shouldn't Barak be commended for helping the Gazan's live without painful concessions ,only the Jews of Sderot ?
7. There's NO Reason To Endanger Our Troops
Yishai Kohen ,   YeShA, Israel   (04.16.08)
Instead: 1. Drop fliers on a terrorist location; say Beit Hanoun. All civilians have one hour to leave. 2. After EXACTLY one hour, begin carpet bombing. 3. Follow up with artillery- lots of it. 4. Send in a force like Sayeret Egoz, Matkal, etc... to hold key positions. 5. Send in tanks and infantry. 6. Kill any and every terrorist remaining. 7. Do the same in the next chosen location. 8. REMAIN in these places. 9. Do this until the terrorists surrender UNCONDITIONALLY. 10. Expel ALL of them and their supporters. Send them back to Tunis- minus those who need to be punished for their crimes. 11. Peace. Our lives are worth more than their lives. Our soldiers' lives are worth more than their lives. We can win while minimizing ALL casualties. And we should. It's the moral thing to do.
8. Soldiers are buffers?
Talula ,   Israel   (04.16.08)
This isn't acceptable. It's not. We have the best air force in the world and some of the most sophisticated weaponry on the planet to keep these filthy bastards away from the fence. I don't take kindly to our soldiers being referred to as buffers. It makes me sick. It also makes me sick that no real effort is being made to release our captured soldiers. Nothing is more important than these boys being returned to their families. It seems that once our sons are sucked into the IDF they become toy soldiers and treated like crap. I feel dizzy and sick and immensely sad when I think of the immeasurable grief these families are about to suffer. My thoughts are with them.
9. Hamas weaponry
Thomas ,   Paris   (04.16.08)
Hamas is clearly upgrading its weaponry, we are losing more and more soldiers each time we enter Gaza. A complete take over of gaza seems more difficult than ever before.
10. change leadership now
Giuseppe ,   Italy   (04.16.08)
my deepest condolences to the families of the soldiers. but this is another effect of olmert politics. I don't understand why israeli people don't make nothing to change his leadership. More delay for a Gaza big op to eliminate the hamas problem, more israeli deads.
11. Combat training
Adon Emett ,   Australia   (04.16.08)
Why is Israel giving Palestinians the opportunity of improving their combat experience? Also Palestinians don't mind loss of their cannon-fodder. Have to go for the top bigtime
12. To number 1, isn't Gaza already a parking lot?
Palestinian   (04.16.08)
What is in Gaza?? Have you ever been there? It is time for people like you to use their minds and not their blind hatred!
13. Cowardly IDF leadership kills more of our people
Antonio ,   Haifa   (04.16.08)
This is what you get for belonging to the IDF--the army led by cowards. Thanks to immoral policies that don't allow our soldiers to shoot first and ask questions later 3 of these young men are dead. SHAME ON IDF!
14. # 11 - Spot on! I agree 1000% !!!
Talula ,   Israel   (04.16.08)
15. # 8 Arrogance
Ali ,   Gaza   (04.16.08)
Stop thinking this way, you have the power to kill and demolish...whenever the power succeeded against ppl fighting for liberty?..I am sure you have the power to delete Gaza from the map within one hour, It is not ethics or religion prevent you ...It is God willing who planted terror and fear in your hearts !!!
16. #3, #12 IDF is too careful re: civilians putting IDF at risk
(04.16.08)
This is what poster #1 means. If we just sent over a large bomb in the general area of the region where the attack against Israel came from, our soldiers would not be put at risk and Gaza would have a brand new parking lot (or at least the demolition part of the job would be done - the palestinian people would need to smooth it out and put some white lines to indicate parking spaces).
17. Recapture Gaza
LEE ,   NY, USA   (04.16.08)
How did the soldiers become an acceptable buffer? The buffer used to be a multitude of willing, vibrant, and productive communities. Soldiers protecting/patrolling these communities were able to gather much intelligence info on the activities of murderers in the strip. And then came the disengagement/expulsion with the stated objective of removing the soldiers from harms way and gaining world opinion. As for world opinion, nothing has changed as expected. As for the soldiers, they are being kidnapped, constantly attacked/ambushed, they are not capable of gathering the depth of intelligence they once were able to gather for pre-war/attrition operations. They are in no ways safer then before. Gaza has become a purely terrorist entity & safe haven and is the basic headquarters of most major terror cells and now also boasts a significant Al Qaeda presence. The communities inside the green-line have taken the place of the willing resident of former Gush Katif. The former residents have been wondering the land for over 2.5 years. Is there anyone out there that still believes it wasn't the most foolish thing Israel has ever done? Besides Olmert of course.
18. Israel should stick to aerial attacks
Mark ,   USA   (04.16.08)
This is a tragedy; how can Israel justify using soldiers when they have aerial superiority?
19. #5 Loss of Palestinian life hurts.
Invicta ,   Europa   (04.16.08)
The loss of every single Palestinian life hurts. For every Palestinian child, woman and indeed militant who dies resisting occupation there is a grieving family member. Until both sides can move beyond their tribal inclinations life will continue to be lost and mourned. Equally. The only way is dialogue.
20. #7 I'm behind you all the way with your comments
Talula ,   Israel   (04.16.08)
21. gaza
Doron   (04.16.08)
soldiers are there to protect civilians, but there is no point in fighting if their is no strategy -- ie a strategy involves a goal such as ending rocket fire. simply fighting terrorists every second day only provides terrorists with training. the strategy, in this posters humble opinion, should be to divide gaza into 4 - 5 segments and securing the philadelphi route thus preventing/severely limiting transport of rocket material to beit hanoun. this will also keep troups out of populated areas and minimizing collateral damage. this must be done before the us elections.
22. #17
Invicta ,   Europa   (04.16.08)
Al Qaeda is not in Gaza (just like it WAS NOT in Iraq) Gaza is not a 'terrorist entity'. It is a small area of land in which people expelled from their land have been effectively imprisoned. The major 'terrorist cells'. Which ones exactly? Hamas was elected and is a resistance group in the eyes of the Palestinians and in the eyes of many other people in the world. Resisting occupation is not the same as 'terrorist activities'. McVie commited terrorist actions. As did the Saudi Arabians who flew planes into the WTC. The people in Gaza are refused the right to leave their small pocket of land. They are fighting for the rights that you and I enjoy.
23. Also in Gaza
Richard ,   London UK   (04.16.08)

24. 3 IDF soldiers killed
debbie ,   israel   (04.16.08)
To #12, If Gaza looks like a parking lot, you have only your own leaders to blame. Israel built in Gaza flourishing communities, clinics, schools, agriculture and synagogues. Your leaders wasted resources and millions of dollars that they received from all over the world, and instead of using it as they should have, on homes, hospitals, malls and schools, they used it to train terrorists, bomb Shderot, buy weapons, and fatten their own bank accounts. How in the world do you think Israel is to blame that Gaza looks like a dump?
25. Olmert the chicken
E.S. ,   Montreal Canada   (04.16.08)
Week after weeks, another deadly clash, others casualties in the IDF rank. It's a shame Olmert the looser is still the PM of this country. How incompetent he has to be so the Israeli can take him over?
26. to Jb (#5)
Yair   (04.16.08)
You say : “the loss of every single israeli life hurts”. Israeli life only. Palestinian life does not matter. My thoughts are with you, too, Jb. And with people like Zoey (#1). How did they manage to sink so low?
27. Boy, am I glad we left Gush Katif!
Dati Leumi   (04.16.08)
That was one of the smartest moves we made. Now we have peace and security all along that border.
28. To all the "Palestinians" here -
Israeli   (04.16.08)
I don't really understand. You talk about freedom fighters and liberty and such. We left Gaza almost three years ago. We removed all the army and civilians, but you are still fighting us. Why???? You have all of Gaza. Now go show the world that you can make a normal country that provides for it's own people. Prove to us that you really do want peace.
29. OUR CHILDEREN
DAVID ,   JUDEA   (04.16.08)
At the hands of our incompetent , corrupt, cowardice and weak government we again have to burry our children. They can write in defense of our country but that is bull%%t, it is in defense of failed political games. Let the Olmerts , the Livnis, the Ramons and al the other riffraff burry their own relatives let them feel the pain of their own making, let them suffer for a change. Now matter what media spin they will come up with we are paying the price for the stupidity that has the government in a iron grip. The IDF that has become a political correct army has no business to send these boys into hellhole Gaza. There is enough firepower to give these Arabs the martyrdom they so much want and seek, so give it to them already.
30. #15 Ali
Marcel ,   Florida   (04.16.08)
You have it too easy in Gaza now ,but that will change. The Gaza play ground will become a large cemetery. The day will come when the chains are removed from the lion and he is no longer restrained by a decadent, declining superpower. When the spineless, cowardly leaders of Israel are replaced with those who understand 'Never Again' and victory.... When the restraint is removed from the IDF ,they will teach you and your comrades the meaning of terror and fear in your hearts !!!
