31. Breaking NEWS!!
Jo Jo   (09.22.08)
Secular men discovered secretly reciting psalms at yeshiva after dark. Ultra-Secular residents of Bnei Brak found sneaking into Ponovez yeshiva, exploiting student library to view anti-zionist tomes. Last Tuesday Ilan, a secular caretaker at the Ponovez yeshiva entered the student library at 2 o’clock in the morning and could not believe his eyes. Ultra secular men were sitting at shtenders pouring over talmudical volumes, mainly containing the discussions about sex and bestiality. “I was in shock,” he recalled. “I passed them and they just continued analyzing the crude texts as if they were reading a newspaper. They were also found planting pornographic material in between the shelves of books. Etc, etc

Jo   (09.22.08)
the rabbis had not forbidden internet use, would this be news? How would other stranges be identified?
33. #18 focuses on the problem
Meira ,   Israel   (09.22.08)
ANYONE CAN WALK INTO BAR ILAN U including of course terrorists and crazies off the street. This is a major security failure! Forget about the weak types who need to get their porn fix. Perhaps there should be a security official (computer savy) who is on rota duty 24/7 in the computer room?
34. Bar-Ilan University
NYC Girl   (09.22.08)
First of all, it's astounding that security is so lax that anybody can just walk in off the street and get access to the school's computers. And as far as the Haredi men who surf porn sites is concerned, I wonder if any of them also take part in those repulsive "modesty patrols" that attack women and trash businesses they deem to be immoral. Now, wouldn't that be the height of hypocrisy?
35. This is news or slander?
Jayyy ,   Israel   (09.22.08)
36. YNET should think twice!!
SHARON ,   CANADA   (09.22.08)
YNET should think twice to make it a news, why treat Haredim different they too are humans and we all have -ve factor in us. We all are working on it and it is not easy to kill the habbits. I hope next time Ynet does not make big ISSUE of it.
37. I have seen them also in an internet cafe in dizingoff
tel avivit ,   Israel   (09.22.08)
Watching Porn!!!!!!!!!
38. thanks ynet.....
meg ,   israel   (09.22.08)
you have just shown how lax security is at Bar Ilan and that ANYONE can just walk in.........and i dont mean those this artical is about. heard of them dressing as orthodox and blowing up buses.????? and personally I guess this artical proves them just as human as the next man!!!
39. Bad boys
Paul ,   Jerusalem   (09.22.08)
What in the world would possess a news organization to find anything news worthy in this article. It's so blatantly prejudice, and haradi-phobic it would bore even the anti-Semites that are drawn to this site. The implication is clear; portray Haredim as fakes and religious perverts, with dramatic eye-witnesses and a lot of adjectives While a few Haradi looking Jews get such news coverage, the evilly- resigned, Godless. secular-Israelis have a free ticket to be as perverse as they want, this is not news worthy, because this is what everyone expects of them. No matter how you attempt to report wrongdoing of Haredim, the moral descrepancy between the Torah-Observant community and secular-Universalist crowd remains vast.
40. To num. 39
Ze'ev ,   Haifa   (09.22.08)
At least the seculars do not portray themselves as "pure and innocent" while religious do so. As a result religious cause us to judge them by far higher standards. So if your flock watches porn in public places do not preach us on purity. Moreover this yet again shows that if you supress basic human insticts they will come out one way or another. The problem is with the "another" option.
41. No. 40 - absolutely!
Dorothy Friend ,   Tel Aviv   (09.22.08)
If someone is going to say that they are superior to another person because of their "beliefs" they shouldn't whine when they are caught out in doing the very thing they condemn. Makes me think of Sarah Palin and her daughter Bristol, who seems to be the new poster girl for Efrat (with or without her permission). Oh so pious mother can't prevent her teen daughter from doing the deed...
42. No. 40 (first try didn't go through!)
Dorothy Friend ,   Tel Aviv   (09.22.08)
Yup, they claim to be morally superior, and guess what. They are just flesh and blood like everone else. Makes me think of holy Sarah Palin and her knocked-up daughter.
43. #37: tel avivit
Sam   (09.22.08)
"they" watch it. You produce it. who's worse?
44. # 38 just as human
Sam   (09.22.08)
no hareidi ever claimed they were better? They strive to live according to a set a standards. Did you ever jaywalk? It's only b/c of them that porm is frowned upon. so stop shaming them b/c they break their own rules. it is none of your business
45. Ze'ev?
Jo Jo   (09.22.08)
Do you agree that it is correct and moral to supress a mans instinct to speed while driving? I guess that since the "basic human instintcs" of the Secular are not "supressed" you will never catch them watching porn, only starring in it!
46. The Actual Issues
Yehudit ,   Bet Shemesh, Israel   (09.22.08)
Are how to keep the computers available only to the students and university personnel(when I was in University in the US I had an account with a password and when my account was used up, that was it,--anybody couldn't just wander in and use the computers. They DO cost money to operate BTW) and the fact that ANYONE can wander around on the campus whether they should be there or not. A major security issue from the points of view of crime and terrorism. The other stuff is a problem, but basically is being reported because it sells newspapers, not to address it.
47. I agree with #38-Yehudit
Shimon ,   Cincinnati, USA   (09.22.08)
The issue that matters here is security for the students at institutions and how people gain access to these institutions. The rest is lurid and frankly not very interesting. Hypocrites exist everywhere. So what? Our people should feel safe in public areas. Computers should be secured as others have suggested. Figure out how to do these things. Anything else is really beside the point.
48. Shock! Horror! Secular Guy caught surfing torah website.
S Judah ,   London   (09.22.08)
He enjoyed it !
49. Since 80% of the hits on the Internet are to porn sites,
Rivkah   (09.22.08)
this is not surprising.
50. HAREDI NEVER CEASE TO STUDY & LEARN.
Bentsedek   (09.22.08)
51. Sam , 37 . They demand it , we produce
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (09.22.08)
Nobody is obliging them to watch , nobody is obliging them to go to Bar Ilan univ at night .
52. They always claim to have higher standarts
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (09.22.08)
Well not all of them apparently . As i wrote already , they are humans , not better nor worse than others .
53. #40
Paul ,   Jerusalem   (09.22.08)
An expected response from the 'happily immoral" crowd. "So if your flock watches porn in public places do not preach us on purity". Why not? You want to marginalize a whole community to you an living happily in self-destructive way. Because a few watches Porn, you have an excuse to remain (using your choice of words) impure? And, because a few watch Porn that brands the religous community immoral? Infantile and obviously hateful thinking. You belonging to the secular 'enlightened' crowd, who preach the sin of 'collective guilt', sure have a problem applying your enlightenment equally to the religious community. You and most committed non-religious, jump with glee whenever in your distorted thinking believe you have justification for ditching 'Divine obligation'. Shameful. This superiority thing that you accuse the Religious of, is nothing but a symptom of your confusion and insecurity.
54. Let them use the net, for porn, news...
Steve ,   U.S.A.   (09.22.08)
There just needs to be some kind of security, I'm sure there are some questionable characters in this bunch. Maybe they can take a class as long as they're spending so much time at the university.
55. #40 an irrational argument
izzy d   (09.22.08)
Your statement that : "At least the seculars do not portray themselves as "pure and innocent" while religious do so. " - Is an illogical statement. it makes no sense. its ridicules and reveals intellectual maturity. and thank you for admitting that you are not pure and not innocent. are you older the 18?
56. S Judah , do you have nice Tora websites ?
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (09.22.08)
With the "song of songs" , this greatest erotic poem of course
57. 56: Charles , hope this helps you out.

58. Hasn't anybody in this brilliant country of ours....
Andy ,   ramat hasharon   (09.22.08)
ever heard of a web-screen program that keeps out porn sites? Send this one up to the Technion to figure out. Bar Ilan's IT department must be too busy working on the lastest Shabbat timer.
59. #39 - You big liar....
Andy ,   ramat hasharon   (09.22.08)
There is NO difference in morality between the so-called Torah observant community and seculars in Israel. Its just that said so-called religious people lie about it more. If you really believe there's a difference, you are retarded.
60. Curiosity ?
RCA ,   USA   (09.22.08)
I would imagine that, to the Haredim involved in viewing this material, it could be considered VERY EDUCATIONAL. It's not ?
