32. Always a fine line between "friends" & "enemies"............
Cameron ,   USA   (12.11.09)
in this self-serving world of ours, Sarah. I cast a real cynical, wary eye on both with each passing year. Spare me yet another wail about "betrayal". As I indicated before, that is little more than brooding self-pity. Have just spent too many years listening to the Arabs howl about "injustice", and am sorry to see Israelis slipping into the same kind of sniveling mode. No time for it.

IF I UNDERSTAND YOUR POST THAT THE 'so called' palisitinians was mentioned 35oo years ago IN TORAH YOU ARE BLATANTLY IGNORANT... ''PALISITNIAN IS A ROMAN NAME GIVEN TO JEWS NOW IF I READ YOU INCORRECTLY THEN I HUMBLY APOLOGIZE. by the way...this thing of calling the arabs in ISRAEL palisitinain is a new thing started by ARAFART IN 1973. There has been many many archeological digs throughout the middle east and never has any artifac of any so called palisitnian arab ever been found. WHEN IN FACT HEBREW COINS AND VESSELS AND WRITINGS ARE ALWAYS FOUND...EVEN IN JUDEA AND SAMEREA WHICH YOU XTIANS LIKE TO CALL west bank. I DO HOPE THE TRUTH OF ISRAEL DOESNT HURT MANY OF YOU... TRUTH IS ALWAYS SHOCKING.. ''ASK SHERLOCK THE BRIT DETECTIVE, LOL'
42. The reality is that the Arabs have never done anything else
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (12.11.09)
They have never fulfilled a single obligation. They have never offered a single concession. They have refused every offer as insufficient.
43. #28 - BBCNews
Df ,   Beer Sheva, Israel   (12.11.09)
Seems that BBCNews has a problem with reading comprehension when it comes to the English language. What the article said as one of it's main points was that the declaration of unilateralism by Abbas found no support and hurt him. Now: "The European Union will not recognise any changes to the pre-1967 borders including with regard to Jerusalem, other than those agreed by the parties ... " If I remember correctly Israel was not up in arms about this but was up in arms at the Swedish proposal that would have in effect supported Abbas' unilateralism. The EU rejected it and came up with the quoted statement. "The Council recalls that it has never recognised the annexation of East Jerusalem. If there is to be a genuine peace, a way must be found through negotiations to resolve the status of Jerusalem as the future capital of two states." Again, the EU has come out in unequivocal support of negotiations, not unilateralism. If East Jerusalem is to be the capital of a Palestinian state, then, according to the EU, they support the notion but it will have to be negotiated and agreed upon by both parties. Mental masturbation ? In following your posts about Israel, the Palestinians and the middle east, the only one who is attempting masturbation is you - and you are doing a pretty lousy job of it.
44. Nour
Eyal ,   USA   (12.11.09)
Sooooo..... Your answer is Re #19? That's what I thought. In fact, let me answer it for you...."No, we won't recognize the Zionists, Israel, Jews and the 67 borders. We want all of Israel." With that said....you think Israel will do peace with you now? They will destroy you and your people first and than when we are finished building in all the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, we will start building in Gaza until there is nothing left... heheheh Sorry Nour, but realistically, there is no room for the Palestinians in this peace loving world we live in. hohoho heheheh hahahah

Sure you are right....weird that the pallies have the energy for violence towards Israel instead of fighting Hamas for their basic rights in Gaza.
47. FACT
Birdi ,   Israel   (12.11.09)
Regardless of your feelings about the crisis between Israel & the Palestinians & the Arab neighbours, even if you believe there is more culpability on Israel's part, the following two sentances really say it all; If the Palestinians & Hamas put down their weapons today, there would be no more violence. If the jews put down their weapons today, there would be no more Israel.

Marcella   (12.12.09)
Thank you for your kind words about my TB. The unthinkable has happened too many times. The Gaza expulsions made no sense whatsoever. There was not even significant US "pressure" then. But it happened. - Netanyahu . He already surrendered Hevron in the past (why is he still trusted?). And has allied himself with Labor. Nothing but bad news can come from this government. - The Golan. If there are no intentions to surrender, why is the PM so persistent in bringing Assad into negotiations? To negotiate what, exactly? - Expulsions from Judea and Samaria - Not unthinkable either. It can be facilitated by releasing killers (already in the works), arming and training Arabs (already in effect by US Gen. Dayton), reducing Israeli police and IDF presence in the area (already a fact) or by eliminating it outright, and the Arabs can 'persuade' the Jews that they will be better off in the Negev or somewhere else. The IDF would only have to do the rescue and relocation side of things. Things are already getting difficult for Yesha Jews. They can't build. Police mistreat them. - An Arab state on Jewish land. First of all it would be illegal. Please check Justice Now For Israel website for historical and legal facts. It's all there. Second, your vision for a progressive and peaceful Arab state on Jewish land is unfortunately not ground in reality. (Think Iran.) Wishful thinking won't get you anywhere. Take the case of Lebanon. It was a flourishing secular state. There were arrangements for power sharing between Christians and Muslims. Lots of good plans and good intentions. But it all exploded in violence and hatred. And they were all Arabs! Palestinian Media Watch and other monitoring sources demonstrate that the Arabs won't be satisfied with part of Jerusalem and the 1949 border lines. They want all of Israel. Israel simply cannot survive with an Arab state stuck in its heartland. And if Gaza and Ramallah ever reconcile with each other and want to form a united country, they will require a land corridor that will split Israel into two. Actually the idea of a land corridor has always been in the works. It was Ramallah-Gaza politics that pushed it off the agenda, temporarily. Again, wishful thinking dissociated from reality can lead Israelis only to catastrophe.
50. A short lesson in how to...
Gideon Reader   (12.12.09)
...turn things around. I know this is tough; complicated and complex answer to a startling degree, I am sure but let's say that the Pals acted in a (choke, gasp) civilized and enlightened manner. That they ceased their murderous and felonious intent to maim and kill or at least drive into the sea their Israeli neighbors. Suppose that they were willing to share the possibility of stewardship of the land they are squatting upon and actually contributed something, anything towards civilization, other than a well founded notariety for murder, assault bombings, terrorism and good old dirtyratbuggery towards everyone, even themselves. Just maybe some shoulders would warm and attitudes possibly might, just might alter a little. But then if they acted in THAT manner, they would be someone else; maybe Swiss or Tierra del Fuegans and not the self destructive Palestinians.
51. #15 - You screwed everyone since Oslo
William ,   Israel   (12.12.09)
including yourselves. It's Arab hubris that continues to make things blow up in your face. You absolutely cannot and will not accept compromise to any of your positions - in other words, no one else matters except YOU. Well, this is why you're losing support. This is why Israel was re-born and continues to succeed - because of tough compromises on realistic situation. Jews didn't demand the world beat up Arabs on their behalf, they took what they could get and made the deserts bloom and created a country built on brain-power, not a finite oil economy. Done talking? When have you begun talking? Oslo was built in hell and Arafat stated this openly when addressing Muslims in South Africa that the Accord was nothing more than a stepped-effort to destroy Israel. With one sentence, Arabs would have gotten almost all they wanted - "We accept a small land swap and a 100% complete end of tensions. The war is over forever and we recognize Israel as our neighbor". But since your hate has never stopped, your desire to destroy Israel has never dissipated, and your claim on land that 97% of "palestinians" can't even prove ownership to - you get nothing. And again - when a "teachable moment" (as Obama loves to say) arises, you fail to learn a lesson. Again, the ball is in your court....but you're busy threatening the referees.
52. #9 - Nour - Is that true or what you saw in Al-Jazeera?
William ,   Israel   (12.12.09)
Because doing business all over the world as an Israeli and talking with political leaders - I've heard nothing but good things and efforts at increasing agreements and cooperation with the Jewish State. Israelis were even openly invited to an intl conference in Qatar - QATAR, a staunch Shia supporter of the "palestinians" which also sports Al-Jazeera, a media venue popular for it's anti-West, anti-Israel viewpoint. In the US, polls show a popularity of Israel among Americans. In the UK, even the listing of foods from settlements have done little to stem the placement of this food in stores or the customers buying it. Infact, some customers go out of their way to buy it even though threatened by pro-Pal supporters with violence. Boycotts from UK, Norway, Sweden, or America? All cancelled. Even the Swedish initiative to give "palestinians" half of Jerusalem just because....was rejected by everyone. It's like the author said ... "anti-Israel sentiment doesn't mean pro-palestinian"...and you, like other racist hopefuls, have been caught in this net. Reality IS disappointing, isn't it?
53. #16 - You mean the legally used "white phos"?
William ,   Israel   (12.12.09)
Though you Leftists try to paint IDF as evil characters with WMDs willing to burn children, Goldstone himself stated white phosphorus was both legal and used legally by the IDF. Wonder why you were so silent when Saddam was burning whole villages of Kurds alive with chemicals? I bet I can guess...
54. #17 - Just click your ruby slippers together....
William ,   Israel   (12.12.09)
"The west will establish State of Palestine no matter what..." So why haven't they already? Could it be that nothing would happen except another sovereign failed State that would be the basis for terrorist violence in the region, like Somalia? Yeah, the world is just rushing to do that, aren't they?
55. #23 - Marcella - No one is denying this
William ,   Israel   (12.12.09)
Of course the "palestinians" are being built up in the West Bank. It's called economic peace and what Bibi promised from the first day in office. It's an effort to counteract the hatred and racism that their terrorist leaders try to indoctrinate by stopping such economic growth, like Arafat did when threatening anyone who dared to move out of the refugee camps. "palestinians" have seen the folly of their ways, with 10 years of a crappy economy after launching a terror war. They won't get a State immediately but be given the chance to live better, change their mindset, and desire peace and a responsible leadership. The thing is - if "palestinians" again choose war and to destroy all of this effort by the world, then it will be the final straw in their future. It will prove to the world their true intentions, even if Europeans try desperately to ignore them. And besides, if West Bank succeeds - refugees will want to return there because of the better opportunities than in Israel, and Hamas/Gaza gets a huge black eye. Totally win-win.
56. #24 - Re: Nour - She's an Israeli Arab reject
William ,   Israel   (12.12.09)
Her/his family ran like pigs from the Galilee in 1948 despite other Arabs who stayed put and are now citizens of Israel. Usually those who ran at the behest of Arab leaders either relished in the chance to return and steal Jewish riches, or had no real tie to the land to begin with and thought "the hell with this. I'm gone!" Nour claims to have been educated in Europe, so she/he holds dear the socialist values she/he got - which is mostly making unsubstantiated claims - like "palestinians" as a people, despite no genetic proof they are different from other Arabs, and mountains of documentation proving most who call themselves "pals" today were illegal immigrants in the 1930s, some as far as Tunisia, Bosnia, and Iraq. But the good news is - Nour is now re-settled elsewhere in the MIddle East and we wish him/her/it well.
57. #28 - Hahaha, thank you for supporting our cause BBS
William ,   Israel   (12.12.09)
We're upset about this?? "The European Union will not recognise any changes to the pre-1967 borders including with regard to Jerusalem, other than those agreed by the parties..." This was outlined in UNR242 and the "palestinians" were the ones trying to change it to be ALL of area in side 1967 borders. The EU basically said "nope, up to negotiation". But thanks for the laugh. UK labeling products? Who cares?? This is not new - and is not mandatory. Some shops declined to label the items, and most customers interviewed said they just don't care. E. Jerusalem? That's easy - legally, Jews were cleansed from the region in 1948 and therefore can get it back, just like the case of Jews who moved back into their homes in Sheik Jarrah per court action. CHECK. Gaza? Wasn't it the EU who agreed to send crews to help stem illegal smuggling by Hamas? I see a nice wall on the Egyptian border being erected with the help of the West. CHECK. Israel is not obligated to open borders with anyone in the world, and Egypt just doesn't want the Muslim Brotherhood bastards of Gaza in their neighborhood. The IDF still maintains both sea and air over Gaza, as per the Oslo Accords.
58. Your response, Marcella (#49) is very
Robert Haymond ,   Ashdod, Israel   (12.12.09)
convincing. You write so deliberately and concisely and knowledgeably that I would imagine you are an excellent political analyst/journalist by profession. At any rate, if what you say is true then Israel will be easily defeated by its enemies. No place to ground longrange plans. But I don't think the Israeli people will allow the evacuation from Judea and Samaria this time round (unlike Gaza) nor any evacuation from the Golan whatsoever. Would this mean civil war? Just pondering.
59. The real danger
Marcella   (12.13.09)
The Palestinian Authority has been negotiating an understanding with the Obama administration regarding a Palestinian threat to unilaterally ask the United Nations to recognize a Palestinian state outside of negotiations with Israel, WND has learned. According to a senior PA official, the PA's chief negotiator, Saeb Erekat, headed a team that held a series of meetings the past few weeks with members of the Obama administration in Washington to discuss the U.S. response should the Palestinians bring to the U.N. Security Council a resolution to unilaterally create a Palestinian state. "The U.S. position is less restrained than it appears in the media," said the PA official, referring to media claims the U.S. would veto any such resolution. The PA official told World Net Daily the Obama administration did not threaten to veto the conceptual unilateral resolution, which had been threatened by the Palestinians last month. The official also said the U.S. supports the creation of a Palestinian state in the 1967 borders, meaning in the Gaza Strip, West Bank and eastern sections of Jerusalem. "The U.S. told us that they prefer a negotiated settlement with Israel, but if we (Palestinians) insist on a resolution, the Americans will not necessarily reject it," the PA negotiator said. From: "U.S. to back unilateral declaration of Palestinian state?" by Aaron Klein All of which goes to show that present Israeli declarations and protests are moot. By allowing the US to become a "mediator", Israel has given up the right to negotiate directly with the Arabs. The deciding power is now the US. And Israel may lose its land. because Israelis have failed to uphold their rights to the land as per international law (see Justice Now For Israel website), and have chosen to beg foreign powers for permission to build on their own land instead. Things are so dangerous now that Israel will need much more than proof of legal ownership according to past international treaties in order to save their heartland.
60. We will continue our resistance...
Sami Awaad ,   Rafah Palestine   (12.13.09)
Nour has clearly reflected the reality in palestine/israeli long lasting conflict. We are dealing with a minority that endanger the world peace. A minority that have never learned and perhaps will never learn from history. All , especially the expansion army of israel, must keep in mind that the palestinian people and with them all peace lovers all over the world will resist your aggressive nature.
