31. ....like Quasimodo, Nour?
Mark ,   Lodz, Poland   (04.04.10)
''cradle of civilisation'' ? The cradle of the monotheistic religions? Starting with Judaism, followed by Christianity and then by Islam. Why does that make it yours?
32. the people need freedom from propaganda, freedom to know the
kate b ,   uk   (04.04.10)
truth of who they are. In fact, since this piece is all about religion, the original Holy Perpetual covenant is clearly to Israel, and ALWAYS has been Israel. The Roman name of Palestine has always been detested and rejected by Jews, even tho Emir Bin Hussein of the Hussein-Weizmann agreement actually calls the Jews Palestinians and his people the Arabs, and respected each other. The Jews will keep their eternal capital to the glory of YY who will act for His own name and his own choice of Zion for Himself and His people, thank you very much. don't get exited or angry, just educate yourself, if you can read. Perhaps at the next PA ceremony all the Psalms and references to Israel's and hence YY's capital of Jerusalem could be included in next year's service - it's all in the New Testament if they just can't bear to use the Torah. Is it me, or does that picture look like mecca?
33. israel guardian never sleeps ?
paulo2005 ,   lisbon,portugal   (04.04.10)
Israel guardian never sleeps ? If it is so why was israel destroyed and jews scaterred all over the world ? It seems to me Israel guardians were in deep coma when the diaspora took place, cack in the first century ce . Lets be realistic.

38. #9: NOUR keeps on dreaming as usual.
Israeli 2   (04.04.10)
NOUR, please come off it. How many times did your leadership promise and promise and promise and nothing came out of it? Everytime, nothing came out of it. Asad, of Syria promised Tel Aviv also. Now he is dead probably promising it to his 72.
39. Dream on #23
david   (04.04.10)
We are not interested in Saudi Arabia and we don't claim Mecca. Go back home and leave us alone. It's our Bible and it's our capital. You have nothing to do either with Judaism or Christianity.
40. LOL! Yeah, right.

42. Failing the test of history
Ron B. ,   Lod   (04.04.10)
Israel's enemies have always wished to destroy it, of course, but what's new this time is that they are avoiding the set-piece battles that lost them all previous wars, and are instead elaborating the tactics of terror. Islamist Iran has made itself the driving force. The terrorist movements Hizbullah and Hamas are both Iranian satellites, and their presence on Israel's borders ensures that Iran can already engage in terrorism on its own terms and at times of its own choosing. There's a civilizational dimension to it as well: Science and technology have hitherto given Western states their supremacy over the Muslim world. As Iran moves toward possession of the nuclear weapon, this historic advantage is neutralized. A nuclear-armed Iran will be able to promote terror at state level, changing the balance of forces as never before against the West in general and Israel in particular. But for the Arabs living today in Judea, Samaria and Gaza, ongoing failure to achieve statehood reflects the ultimate indicator in determining that, indeed, they do not deserved statehood as described at : http://xrl.us/bj3vi
43. They don't actually say "Jerusalem"
Rango   (04.04.10)
Let's be honest journos, let's keep it honest, he said "al qods" which is an Arabic "euphimism" so they don't have to say "Jerusalem".
44. Sarah B. Hamas, "LOL" the best you got?
Michael Hess ,   Charlotte, NC   (04.04.10)
You are Hamas aren't you? Or do you work directly for Iran's dreaded mullahs? Come one now! Which is it! One or the other. Because that which you write has certainly has never been for the good of Israel. Nay, you have always tried to tear it down or make it look bad somehow with your hatred. A hatred that everyone sees sweetie. We all see it. Including the US Secret Service. You scoff. You laugh. You get busted for the terror sympathizer I believe you are. Or do you favor Hassan Nassrallah, maybe he is your idol? Maybe Al Sadr over in Iraq? What flavor of radical are you now that you have been unmasked? Which is it sweetie? It sure ain't the US or Israel that you support. Who do you really work for?
45. #19 To Sheikh Dallas,
Salma ,   Palestine   (04.04.10)
Why do not you go to Mecca looks like you're a specialist in the fields of Hadith, you can give private lessons there, congratulations....We, the Palestinians understand only one thing that we have one homeland called Palestine and Jerusalem as its capital and this is what will be even after 100 years There is no limits to our patience... remember this when you're in Canada or in Mecca. :)
46. 1967 lines
David ,   New England   (04.04.10)
What is so special about the 1967 lines? That's the territory Jordan seized when it attacked Israel in 1948. Giving it back to the arabs only rewards arab aggression. What's to stop it from becoming another Iranian stooge like Gaza?
47. freedom of religion
observer   (04.04.10)
Jerusalem was the capital of Jews for 100 years (2nd – 1st century BC), and it was the capital of Christian Kingdom for 100 years, and a capital of a Muslim and Christian province for 1900 years, while it was the holy place of pilgrimage for all its history. The Jews do not allow any Muslim below age of 50 to pray in the Mosque of al Aqsa, they do not allow Christians of Bethlehem to celebrate Easter in Jerusalem and do not allow Christians of Jerusalem to celebrate Christmas in Bethlehem.

49. Israel ... is shunned and in retreat
Chris ,   New York, USA   (04.04.10)
Israel is becoming a "project" in retreat. A country shunned and condemned everywhere. Time to face reality and stop delusion and denial ...give Palestinians their rights before all is lost.
50. Pals will Have a State Only If...
Dallas ,   Canada   (04.04.10)
... the focus becomes less on hatred of their neighbors and more on actual state-building. In addition, there are several pragmatic problems to overcome - Gaza is no viable model, the PA is unelected, so who really can Israel make agreements with? 1967 arbitrary line is indefensible, so really how can this happen? Even the 1967 UN resolutions took that into account, by not insisting that Israel withdraw from ALL liberated territories, just some. A real tangle to sort out.
51. Since when muslims and christians celebrate together an
Galit ,   USA   (04.04.10)
celebrate together an Easter? jokes form Fayyad...
52. East Jerusalem a stolen land
Joshua Bernstein ,   San Jose, USA   (04.04.10)
East Jerusalem is "stolen land". It was stolen from the Jews by the British trained Jordanian Arab army in 1948. In May that year Arabs conquered E.Jerusalem whose majority of citizens were Jews. All Jews were thrown out from their homes and Arabs from Jordan and other countries moved. Yep, it is stolen land. In 1967 Israel recaptured E.Jerusalem after a tough fight. Read history guys.
53. #48 a ‘tinok shenishba’, ‘a kidnapped child’
observer   (04.04.10)
A kidnapped Jewish child has no knowledge of Jewish customs, beyond knowing that he belongs to the Jews. He/she considers himself/herself a Jew just because his grandparents were Jewish.
54. The problem always has been...
Mike M. ,   Seattle Wa.   (04.04.10)
God is not willing, for He was a Jew and has no real interest in a Palestinian state, and what better time to declare it than Easter ?

58. Note, they claim they want a state, yet they refuse to...
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (04.04.10)
...respect the other's right to an independent nation-state. To this day, consistently and without shame the Muslim-Arabs, local and regional, refuse to accept Israel's RIGHT to be, to exist as the nation-state of the Jewish people. Indeed, to this day, consistently and without shame the Muslim-Arabs, local and regional, refuse to accept a peace agreement as the "END OF THE CONFLICT". The only logical conclusion one can draw from these refusals is: The "state" that they talk about will be the next stage in their long term march towards the annihilation of the Jewish national home, a goal spelled out clearly in all the Charters such as PLO, Fatah, Hamas, PFLP, PDFLP, Islamic Jihad, etc. Is the world that blind... or that sinister...??!! Does that include the present White House...??!!
