I think that if the Indians would have proclamed their own state in the reserves where they live and claimed half of Washington DC as their capital you would view it differently?

Don't know how to break this to you, but the United States is entirely irrelevant. Jordan attacked Israel in 1967. Israel prevailed. Under all interpretations of international law and convention, Jerusalem therefore belongs to Israel. However, if you feel that badly about it, why not agitate to award Washington D.C. to the Palestinians? They've got at least as good a claim to it as they do to Jerusalem. C'mon, Chris. Vote with your feet.

It is difficult to see how a two state solution can realisticly be brought about. Are the appr. 400,000 illegal settlers going to accept Palestinian citizenship ? Are they going to abandon their settlements and return to Israel ? And what about the "security wall" ? A recent survey showed that they are not going to give up settelements and will fight back. They also have the backing of the majority of the Israeli people. So more violence can be expected when a Papestinian state is proclaimed. The only solution is a UNITARY state and Israel abandonning Zionism and the "one religion state only" concept; the supremacy of the Jewish religion and accept the democratic principles of a multi-cultural society regardless of race, gender and creed.
