62. Israel's Proclamation of Independence (Google for it) is the
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (05.20.10)
best manifestation of Zionism and its vision!!! Read it and compare it to any other manifestation of any other national liberation movement on earth!! Then, and only then come here and tell us, Jews, that we have no right to be part of a strong affinity to our homeland of nearly 4,000 years and to take part in the renewal of our sovereignty in it!! Too bad the Muslim-Arab world has chosen to stand in the way and bring wars upon the region, from which all suffered, but mostly the aggressor: the Muslim-Arab world and especially its local component.
63. #10 Said: On Arabism
Yitzhak ,   Holon   (05.20.10)
Dear Said of Amman Those who live in glass houses should not be throwing stones. The areas you now call "Arab" throughout the region, once were not Arab but belonged to many other peoples. In order for these areas to be called Arab, the Arab armies from Arabia had to dispossess and overrun areas that belonged to another empire (Byzantium) and other peoples (Assyrians, Jews, Berbers, Greeks, Egyptians, etc.) But let's look at modern Arab history. Pan-Arabists found the need in the last 60 years to ethnically cleanse their territories of almost all Jews, and to commit genocide against Kurds in multi-national Iraq. Let us look at the miserable conditions facing non-Arab Kurds in Syria, non-Arab Assyrians (what's left of them) in Iraq, non-Arab Berbers in the Maghreb countries, the Christian Copts in Egypt, the non-Arab Darfuris subjected to genocide in "Arab" Sudan, etc. etc. Don't be surprised when the non-Arabs of the region stand up for their own national rights, even it it displeases the racism of the pan-Arabist nationalist movement. We are here. Deal with it. if you try to destroy us, we will fight back and make you hurt. If you don't like that, stop trying to destroy us.

very enjoyably to be a Zionist OUTSIDE Israel. There are many "zionists" all round the globe who love Israel from far away. Mr. Zionist, WHY you are not in Israel?

Thank you for your reasoned response. I think I am confused by it. I believe one of your main points was that neither cultures nor individuals should be stuck or crystallized in time, place or situation. That is, cultures, at their best, are dynamic and are capable of change. When they don't, they become stuck much like the Persians which morphed into Iran or the Moors in Spain which morphed into the dead cultures of North Africa. We can view the same sort of dynamic in the Jewish world in Europe while it continued to pour all of its intellectual power into the very narrow funnel of religious/biblical/moral studies. The European enlightenment during the Renaissance significantly changed the modern world (not necessarily for the good). This was followed, in the ensuing centuries, by the Halacha (Jewish enlightenment). From this came a further impetus for change in physics, mathematics, psychology, medicine, law, literature, art and music. This impetus continues in Israel in the forms of technology, aeronautics, communications and academic studies. I would also suggest that the Palestinian people (Westbank) are opening up to cultural change and advancement although my familiarity is too slim to state this with genuine assurance.

Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (05.21.10)
Please don't get me wrong, when I stated to be a Zionist, it was not just phony talk, it was a serious political statement. I meant what I said, the fact that I am NOT living in Israel should not devaluate my deep rooted conviction. I concede, that my statement sounds provocative, but this provocation is directed towards the anti-Zionists, so again, please do not get me wrong, I am on Your side... I am a true friend of Israel.
67. To deny Israels right to exist,
Serious ,   Germany   (05.21.10)
is to deny it for arab states also. The right of founding a jewish state (on grounds of the Ottoman Empire)were internationally recognized at San Remo Conference after World War I. At the same conference, the right to found arab states were recognized, too.
68. The secret place in Obama's heart.....
Revo1117 ,   Plesanton, CA.   (05.21.10)
I find it QUITE "curious" that our president, Obama and his administration, goes out of their way to APPEASE Muslim countries, yet finds time to SLAM Israel's. HE as already shown he is no respect for of our great ally. What about slamming the Saudi's and other Muslim countries for their civil rights and their treatment of women, not to mention China's SERIOUS human rights issues? No, he wouldn't dare to criticize them! The hypocrisy of Obama and his administration is reprehensible and demonstrates that he supports all things Muslim, and dislikes everything Jewish, who BTW, is our ONLY true ally in the Middle East., THAT is ""the secret place in his heart". SICKENING!

Rebecca ,   Canada   (05.23.10)
Excuse me? You can only become a Canadian citizen if you have landed status (landed immigrant). Visitors, people claiming refugee status or even those who have refugee status can not Apply for Canadian citizenship until they have landed status. You also have to apply for citizenship, its not automatic. By the way, your Citizenship can be stripped from you if you entered Canada under false pretenses. One more thing, Jews (who are a Nation as well as a religion, which explains secular jews), have been living in Israel for over 3500 years. For Jews around the world, returning to Israel is to return to the home of the forefathers.
