61. #42 - Do you know how many Americans despise the UN?
William ,   Israel   (09.23.10)
A great majority of Americans believe the UN is useless and has been hijacked by blocs with their own agendas. This wasn't the case in the 1940s when the UN was young, about the time when the partition was voted on. Back then, it was an even playing field. Today, the UN issues reports that contradict themselves, ignore tons of information, and cater to blocs. That's a known fact and has been since the 1970s when it began going down hill. Since the UN has been caught in breaking their own sanctions, had troops involved in rape and extortion, and basically did nothing in areas of the world where genocide is quite real, it's hard to take them seriously. It's amazing what 60 years can do to a great idea.
62. Israel should wait for the real report
J. Malema ,   Johannesburg RSA   (09.23.10)
that will be head by the New Zealand pres. then they should take the UNHR (Just another Plas. Terrorist Propaganda Devision) to court for missrepresintation.
63. human rights council
ronen ,   usa   (09.23.10)
this is ridiculous. the human rights council includes bahrain, china, jordan, pakistan, saudi arabia, egypt, qatar, and other muslim and anti israeli governments (not to mention other BRUTAL governments). how can this be taken seriously?
64. to #38
Dino Domingo ,   Vancouver, Canada   (09.23.10)
you said: The UN report is outrageously partisan. How is it possible, that they even don't have the courtesy and abide by the most basic rule of reason to hold back their conclusions until publication of the results of the enquete lead by the israeli commission. to answer your question...why do they have to wait for Israel's conclusions? Israel wouldn't admit to using phosphorous bombs on a UN building and they blatantly refused to cooperate with any outside investigation for the Flotilla fiasco! Same on you for being so shallow minded!
65. Ahmadinejad
DOV ,   USA   (09.23.10)
If Ahmadinejad is allowed to stand up and slander the death of JEWS during WW2 without reprisal what is there to believe in the U.N.
66. Humanitarian Crises?
Michael ,   USA   (09.23.10)
I guess having difficulty smugglng rockets into gaza is a humanitarian crises. The real war crime is Hamas holding the population of Gaza hostage to its military ambitions. If you want to see a true humanitarian crises, look at Haiti. Not much concern from the UN
67. HOW STUPID ARE YOU???-+
Brant ,   Hilton Head   (09.23.10)
Don'y you know that Jews are the only people on earth not permitted to defend themselves. It seems to be unbearable for others that Jews should try to stop provocations or retaliate for rockets. So, they all turn you into racists and "zion Nazis" and accuse you of "apartheid",,,, alll to mask their hate; their guilt all over Europe and Asia and the Middle East for doing nothing when 6 million of you were exterminated as valueless animals by those who saw themselves as superior. The pattern has not changed. You weren't supposed to survive and be strong and they can't stomach that you are. The answer: Stay strong.
68. WOW!
John ,   Israel   (09.23.10)
UN condemns Israel? I'm shocked. This is unprecedented. ;-) Why do we care what a UN council has to say when they say nothing about Turks occupying Cyprus, Turks killing Kurds, and the list of double standards goes on and on.
69. Hey Sam, you have any proof, report anything?
Eyal ,   USA   (09.23.10)
70. Sam, Israelis are way smarter from wherever u crawled out of
Eyal ,   USA   (09.23.10)
perhaps you are talking about yourseld. You say things without any proof, report, just bla bla bla
71. Just to remind you,
Salma ,   Palestine   (09.23.10)
Because of the United Nations, "Israel" is here ! at least be obedient to them.
72. It's the UNHRC
DM   (09.23.10)
Even the main UN body itself doesn't take these guys seriously anymore after the Goldstone joke. Let's wait and see what the other, REAL investigation shows.
73. UN human right council pseudo democratic and not ethic decis
Dr.Ludwig ,   Belgium   (09.23.10)
Israel does not need to be surprised by the result of the UN human rights council. A quick view into the encyclopaedia about who are the 47members of this council, 13 African states, 13 Asian states, 6 Eastern European states, 8 Latin American and 7 Western and other countries. A dominance is shown by Islamic and African countries. Only a few of them, have a classic Western democracy, such as Israel. Among them there are numerous countries that are known for violating the human rights, such as Cuba, China or Russia. Furthermore many of them have no diplomatic relations to Israel. Under these circumstances, these decisions were illegal and not ethic among Western countries.
74. The UN has long since lost all credibility and relevance.
Tahl ,   Ashdod   (09.23.10)
The only ones listening to UN are the morally bankrupt nations who dictate its extremely biased agenda, namely all the Muslim world, and a few of its spinelss and corrupt western lackeys. It has turned into a cynical political tool for trashing Israel, and nothing more. All the important and influential countries (and not necessarily Israel's friends), namely the US, Britain, Canada, Australia, China, Germany, Holland, Russia, Italy, etc. have been ignoring it for a long time. No reason to get worked up about this extremely biased report.
75. How 'bout blaming the instigator
Kenneth   (09.23.10)
UN Human Right Council report fails to recognise simple fact that exclusion zone was permitted and is legal. Any 'Humanitarian crisis' is of Hamas making because it pays the tunnel makers and the terrorist spondoring government and is a self inflicted issue. All aid was offered passage. Force was clearly propotionate on the one boat which demonstrated mortal physical resistance. Clearly the panel have written this report with their "Eyes Shut"
76. #71 Salma
DR ,   UK   (09.23.10)
The arrogance and hypocrisy of the Arab and Islamic world is embodied within your comments and the rhetoric of the UN. You say that Israel is here 'because of the UN'. Please check out the San Remo Peace Accord, the Palestine Mandate and the League of Nations documents surrounding Balfour. Not forgetting the 4,000 year unbroken Jewish heritage in it's OWN land outside of the machinations of man. Israel certainly isn't here due to the Arab and Islamic world which had no regard for UN resolutions or the UN itself when it treated them with contempt in 1948 and instead sought the genocide of the Jewish state reborn in it's own land. Adhering to the UN is only expedient to you when it suits your own agenda.
77. To: No. 71
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (09.23.10)
No, just to remind you .... the United Nations resolution on partition was rejected by the Palestinian Arabs. So at least do not try and draw upon the United Nations, as you rejected their legitimacy. At least be obedient to your stupidity. Can't put toothpaste back into the tube, mameleh. "Palestine" is a non-existent myth. Too bad. You missed your chance; some opportunities never swing by a second time. That would be your fate. Too, too bad. Oh well.
78. 18. :: Was there any doubt?!
Galut ,   Selah   (09.23.10)
When protesters are delibertly laying in wait to inflict harm on israeli soldiers and the floatillia leaders knew about it.... it seems to me the shoe is on the other foot .... the video of protesters swinging iron rods and bats with deadly force is hard to contest unless you have put a blindfold on and pertend it didn't happen....
79. Will UNHCR also investigate Turks chemical attack on Kurds?
Mike ,   Oxford UK   (09.23.10)
Will the UNHCR also investigate the recent Der Spigel investigative report providing documentary evidence of Turkeys chemical weapon attack against the Kurds? They use weapons of mass destruction with international impunity! 1000s of Kurds are brutalised and killed every year...
80. To 71 Sure! When they allow Israel to be on the security....
The Dude   (09.23.10)
council, then the UN will have fulfilled it's obligations to Israel finally giving it Sovereign equality as required by article 2 of the UN charter. Until then Israel is not a full fledged member. So same way a landlord selectively abides by an agreement, Israel like that much abused tenant can selectively pay or follow whatever parts of the contract. And talking about sovereign equality, we should also enforce it for the palestinians, by dismantling UNRWA and integrating them along with the correct definition of a refugee to the UNHCR.
81. In fact, I was actually expecting the UN to say:
Jonathan   (09.23.10)
"We do not understand what these Peace Activists had in mind when they attacked the soldiers who came in unarmed. We are yet to explore whether they thinking that they are going to kill these soldiers and continue safely to Gaza? This needs futher investigation. In addition, we were astonished by the level of tolerance and foward-coming approach taken by the Israelis, sending over an putting at risk a few unarmed soldiers. We condemn the forces behind the 'aid-ship', and hope that this bevahiour and hypocracy is and was a one off thing. We want to assert and make clear that the UN, as the rest of the world, will not support terror acts, and terrorist organization such as the Hamas, or any attempts to harm Israel and/or Israel's citizen's security." That's what I was expecting, but maybe we did not get the 'right men' for the 'right job' ?
82. UNHRC
Mark ,   Lodz, Poland   (09.23.10)
Banana Republics and Kangaroo courts
83. Civilised men are proud of the IDF. Thankyou!
The 11th Man ,   London.   (09.23.10)
84. No. 61 William
NYC Girl   (09.23.10)
85. :: Once again...
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (09.23.10)
...Israel’s international reputation slides further down the gutter because of its own actions. "The Israeli Foreign Ministry responded late Wednesday by saying the Human Rights Council had a "biased, politicized and extremist approach."" Typical denial from Israel. The truth is that Israel can deny and try and slur the HRC but the rest of the world *will* accept this report and its findings regardless of whatever ‘damage limitation measures’ Israel tries to but into place. I fully expect Turkey to reiterate its demands for an official apology and compensation for the families that the IDF needlessly killed.
86. !!!!
Mo ,   Europe   (09.23.10)
You call the UN human rights council racist, terrorist supporter.....Are you thinking Israel exist on Mars? The State of Israel has to accept the rule giving und the Hole World .I feel shame when I a read your comments.
87. UN is biased, the world is against Israel & Violets are blue
awe struck ,   istanbul   (09.23.10)
Another 10.000 times repeated, I will start believing it, too:)
88. Much of world not happy with Israel's current policies
Bloodyscot ,   Dallas, Texas   (09.23.10)
Israel and Jewish groups have been able to control PR and stories released to public for years but that has changed the last few years. Obama has put a spotlight on Israel and its policies, most reports are one sided against Israel now, while in the past they was pro-Israel. The Palestinian people are in a bad position, with much on the blame on its leadership and radicals but Israel has played a part for political gain from the right. Both sides have blood on their hands and don't want to compromise unless they have no choice.
89. Ball in Ban's Court
M Carr ,   Baltimore   (09.23.10)
I fully expected the UNHRC to come to a similar conclusion so there is no story here. Ban’s investigation is the more credible one and I expect their investigation to be more balanced and impartial. Ban’s investigation must do a better job because the UN’s credibility is at stake and precedence has been established in this matter. The difficulty here is the possibility that Ban’s investigation risks reaching divergent conclusions than the UNHRC. This is the likely scenario that could put the UN in conflict with itself and could turn international law on its head. Ban has to walk a tightrope here and his diplomatic skills will be fully tested. The world will be watching.
90. Does it really matterwhat the UN says?
Sean ,   Montreal, Quebec   (09.23.10)
The Americans will block any attempt at justice for those who were murdered.
