61. #50 You're not in Israel, so what are you talking about?
Dovid ,   Los Angeles   (04.06.11)
Uziyahu Ben-Adi? What is that, some sort of clown name?
62. The Rambam would certainly approve
Moshe ,   Tel Aviv   (04.06.11)
In his Halachic work the Mishne Torah the Rambam says that we will have sacrifices again as no mitsva in the Torah can be canceled. We don't rule by the guide to the perplexed which is a philosiphical work.
63. #38 honest ignoramus unlike the rest
yoni ,   tel aviv   (04.06.11)
at least you are honest about the fact that you havent a clue about Torah and Judaism. The rest of the ignorant talkbackers just pretend to have an opinion about something they know nothing about. Ignorance is bliss... until there's an 18 wheeler truck about to run you over. not so bliss then huh?
64. 51 Dina-so you

65. sacrifice
Roshea1956 ,   arkansas   (04.06.11)
next time u eat meat think how it got to ur plate. Barbaric-no. The sacrifice will start again just a matter of time. I hope that not much longer b/c Israel is surrounded. Now is the time to show G_d great reverence. Something tells me there is a time limit, and time is up soon.
66. Please clarify the following
Avi ,   Israel   (04.06.11)
While we`re on the important subject of religious law, could someone please clarify the following: ) When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odour for the Lord (Lev. 1:9). The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odour is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them? b) I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her? c) I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness (Lev. 15:19-24). The problem is, how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense. d) Lev. 25:44 states that I may indeed possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Jordanians , but not lebaneese. Can you clarify? Why can't I own Lebaneese? e) I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself? f) A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination (Lev. 11:10), it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this? g) Lev. 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here? h) Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev.19:27. How should they die? i) I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves? j) My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev. 19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? (Lev. 24:10-16) Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private family affair like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14)
67. #52 Yosi: You can't back up your own words
Steve   (04.06.11)
You cannot back up your words. You remind me of the evangelical: "God said it. I believe it. That settles it." Your faith is not based on understanding. That is not faith Yosi.
68. I Agree with no.66

69. That's why Israel is in so much trouble.
exUK ,   Tel Aviv Israel   (04.06.11)
Our country is being governed by THE TAIL WAGGING THE DOG.That is these people who know how to extract money for doing no work, whilst bribing the government to do their bidding. These guys live in a hermetically sealed bubble ,have no conception of the world at large, and believe that nothing matters except that God will provide.I call this ROCD Religious Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. It is fine by me what THEY want to think,so long as it doesn't ultimately affect me or,worse, bring down our country
70. sacrifice at temple mount
Eliyahu Dahtcahm ,   Baltimore, MD   (04.06.11)
I am a bit surprised that the Muslims worshipping at the nearby mosques have not put hijabs on these goats all things considered.
71. only levitikans r allowed to sacrify in the
ghostq   (04.06.11)
temple mount otherwise it would be against everything god represent.
72. to #54 hahaha medevil happened 2500
ghostq   (04.06.11)
years after the exodus. and you do BBQ at least once a year, meaning, god's BBQ is way better.
73. to #66 lebanon wasn't lebanon,
ghostq   (04.06.11)
the cost area was phonetian land, and the inner land was Aramik land, there was never lebanese people. as for exodus, they have found paleo hebrew glyphes in Egypt, the ancient hebrew alpha beth, yes as for slavery, it was phorbiden by Israelites, the judges in jerusalem imlimented that during david era, relic by edomian from the Palmachim kibuts writen in Israelite hebrew(from the first Israeli era) shade light on what Edomian worker rights were, from getting salary to having his own clothes. you just find excusses to hate your own religion, homosexuality was forbiden due to Greek custom who were pagans at the time, and the custom was young boy as sex toy for older man, Israelite saw that at made the rule against homosexuality, sad to say but you bothered so much and quoted sources you do not know where and y they came from. so much energy to justify your hatred, kinda sad. indeed
74. Kareth?
Yehuda Z ,   Ashdod, Israel   (04.06.11)
Either he just forgot, or he purposely forgot, but the punishment of Kareth only applies to one who is standing on the Temple Mount on the eve of Passover (in the afternoon) and does not bring the sacrifice. Someone who is not on the Temple Mount is not liable to the punishment.
75. #28....huh? animals are elevated spiritually?
Le' Faux Jew ,   US   (04.06.11)
Because you transfer your guilt into them? Sacrifice comes from the nations. Not all Jews are at the same place.
76. #59....yeah and Abraham was made righteous how?
Le' Faux Jew ,   US   (04.06.11)
"Then he believed in the LORD; and He reckoned it to him as righteousness"..................... Only after he fell back into disbelief did he need to sacrifice. Sacrificers (no matter what religion), are non-believers.
77. More on Abram........
Le' Faux Jew ,   US   (04.06.11)
Also when you really look at Genesis 15:8-21....it speaks of the result of Abram disbelief (did not trust the word of the creator), was allowing him to go back to sacrifice of the pagans. Maybe some of these Rabbis who want sacrifice, need to think about that?
78. Temp mt.sacrifice
alexandria ,   Sardis. B.C Canada   (04.06.11)
They have all ready killed the sacraficial Lamb of God, now they are an abombination that makes desolate set up in the temp. Mt... This is ushering the true Lamb of God in, even as it is written,This must come to pass; glory be, come Lord Jesus come quickly...
79. #66,Rabbi calls for sacrifice on temple mount
Elsie ,   gush halav   (04.06.11)
Avi, thanks alot ,you made my day, surely your talkback has to be named "the best"
80. Schmucky Jews, JUST DO IT!
Alexander ,   USA/Israel   (04.06.11)
Lets not forget this is a mitzvah and if your so opposed to animal slaughter go protest every single butcher on earth! It seems to me that Jews are more worried about what people will think of this then what this actually means for Jews. If your so opposed to this why not stop people from having bbq's because they are slaughtering animals then putting their organs on grills to burn their flesh and devour them! What is wrong with you people, stop insulting our Mitzvah's there's nothing wrong if people want to go make a Passover offering in the Jewish state of Israel!
81. #78....notwithstanding Levitical atonement sacrifice is not
Le' Faux Jew ,   US   (04.06.11)
a human being......why would any pagan concept of God feeding / blood sacrifice have to come back? In other words....Jesus sacrifice didn't work the first time? This concept of sacrifice is pagan.
82. So the good book says......
Le' Faux Jew ,   US   (04.06.11)
Psalm 50; If I were hungry, I would not tell thee; for the world is Mine, and the fulness thereof. Do I eat the flesh of bulls, or drink the blood of goats? Offer unto God the sacrifice of thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the Most High
83. atonement sacrifice
Deborah ,   US   (04.06.11)
The ritual slaughtering of animals to God was central to worship at the temple (Lev.1:5) But God warned that righteousness, justice, and a humble heart submitted to Himself were more important than bringing sacrificial gifts to the altar.
84. My Place
Efraim ,   Jerusalem   (04.06.11)
I offer my backyard in Jerusalem to the Rabbi and others who want to join in on a korban Pessach this year. But it must be roasted whole, and anything left over in the morning must be burned to a crisp. (I'll need help with the roasting it whole) Does the Rabbi have any suggestions?
85. #83...huh? Who says?
Le' Faux Jew ,   US   (04.06.11)
The creator never commanded sacrifice....Israel brought it with them from the nations. God allowed it until we came to knowledge. The nations believe it worship. Listen to my prophets. Stop killing their words. .... Jer. 7; Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Add your burnt-offerings unto your sacrifices, and eat ye fle...sh. For I spoke not unto your fathers, nor commanded them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt-offerings or sacrifices; but this thing I commanded them, saying: 'Hearken unto My voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be My people; and walk ye in all the way that I command you, that it may be well with you.
86. Abraham is our father
Levi ,   Israel   (04.07.11)
#59 Abraham is our father(John8:44)
87. response to # 74
Ron ,   NJ, USA   (04.07.11)
You are wrong. The punishment of Karet applies to all who are eligible but do not participate in the Korban Pesach, regardless of whether they are in Jerusalem or not. The only exception is for people who were unable to do this because of circumstances beyond their control (too far away, or ritually unclean) -- in which case they must bring a "Pesach Sheni" sacrifice one month later. Check your sources.
88. Not Possible
AAB ,   Missouri, USA   (04.07.11)
There is more to the Mosaic Law of sacrifice than cooking lambs in nice robes. First and foremost, it is the task of the High Priest to administer. A man who is a Levite son by birth, and only after he has cleaned himself and filled the Holiest of Holies with sacred perfumed smoke can he do his work. You have no Ark of the Covenant, you have no spotless Levite High Priest, you have no Holiest of Holies. Any attempt to keep this law will result in you breaking it.
89. Not you, YHWH freed you (Exodus)
Valerie ,   USA   (04.07.11)
The temple will be rebuilt. YHWH is calling His people back to Him. But never forget it was HE who freed His people. His people did NOT free themselves.
90. To Avi
JAke ,   Israel   (04.07.11)
If u r really interested in knowing the answers to all of these atheistic questions which u picked up on the net, why not just step into a yeshiva and ask the learned jews there. Reading these questions just shows to me (and others) that u r a total ignoramus about your own traditions. We Jews do not believe in a literal understanding of the Torah, never have, never will. It came with explanations as to when and where they apply. These "questions" may make a christian or moslem cringe, but for knowledgeable jews, u r making us laugh with your ignorance.
