31. 26 Amalia - Would NOT have happened in US
Mark of Lewiston ,   USA   (10.30.11)
The US already had a nearly identical case. Our Supreme Court ruled for the defense. Whistle blowing is not a crime in the US. She is not in the category as Pollard. She did not provide intelligence to a foreign government for money. The defendant was one Daniel Ellsberg and the paper was the New York Times. The case is commonly known as the Pentagon Papers.
32. Just a question:
Moragh   (10.30.11)
In Israel, do Judges have a proper education and training before they can get anywhere near to being a Judge? If so, please explain. Take one look at Olmert, and he's still wandering around. And how about the Rapist (his name escapes me). Then there is ehud Barak(?) has he ever been convicted or even tried for his common treachery against Jews. Why are these 'crumbs' still floating around free? I have been asked these questions by numerous people, and all I can do is shake my head in disbelief!

34. 2000 Docs!!!
Yael Marks ,   Tucson AZ   (10.30.11)
She should get a year for each document stolen. 2000. That is a lot of "stupid".
35. Rivkah's comments are such a revelation
miri ,   israel   (10.30.11)
and amaze me !! I just wonder where does she find the time to do all that research ! In comparison, I barely get through the day with all my chores, let alone reading and trying to keep up-to-date!
36. Anat Kam is very fortunate that the court
miri ,   israel   (10.30.11)
sentenced her to 4.5 years in jail. I can't imagine what she was thinking especially since she has been labeled "intelligent". She's quite stupid I believe.
37. Sentence is far too light
LBL ,   Israel Hadera   (10.30.11)
I regret to read that she rec'd such a light sentence- the public should demand a retrial ! She not only breached the IDF security- she is a traitor to the Am Israel.
38. Kam's repentance must be answered.
repentance ,   spain   (10.30.11)
Donot be agressive when a person repents of the wrong they committed. Maybe you are the next one. A person who openly repents must be received with grace. Thanks to the court of JUSTICE. This is the character of the creator and so should His people be.
39. left winger kam
chaim ,   p t israel   (10.30.11)
had she been a right winger, then all the hate would have been not only directed against her, but against anything on the right. the left would have gone to town blaming the youth movement she was brought up in, blaming all her friends, blaming anyone wearing a kippa, blaming anyone who has ever voted for a political party further right than meretz. oh yes the left wing would have had a field day.
40. #32 Ehud Barak
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (10.30.11)
Ehud Barak was suspected of corruption far greater than Olmert or Sharon. When he was questioned he said "no comment". Unlike in the cases of Netanyahu or Lieberman, the AG decided that if Barak has no comment they should close the case. Barak's former friend Haim Ramon recently publicly accused Barak of being the most corrupt politician in Israel. Barak did not sue for libel and the AG did not reopen the investigation.
41. #31 Epic fail
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (10.30.11)
Kam was not a "whistleblower": She stole and gave Blau operational secrets that have no news value but are extremely important for Fatah, Hamas and Hezbolla in any future war. Second, if what you say is true, how do you explain the incarceration and inhuman treatment of Gay activist Bradley Manning who is a whistle-blower who exposed illegal behavior by powerful people such as Ms. Clinton? You FAIL
42. ANOTHER DAY OF JUSTICE
DAVID ,   JUDEA   (10.30.11)
It was a forgone conclusion that Kam, would get a slap on the wrist. She is one old chip of the bloc of the same people who control the media, the courts and money in this so moral country. One could just see how Ynet would report this same story , had it been a religious Jew and the sentence following it. In the past weeks we have seen how the courts are a fast declining cycle of injustice. The hit and run driver from a son of a high court judge got a maximum sentence and the children of the Schijveschuurder family who lost their parents and 3 siblings wasted their time in the supreme court. Another day to feel comforted by our elite and its justice.
43. #10 1000s are being freed from US jails due to lack of space
michael redbourn ,   Arad Israel   (10.30.11)
44. hope #1 reads #31's comment
Amalia @26   (10.30.11)
because 31's point sharpens what I am talking about and makes it very clear. Thanks #31
45. Easy time, when one considers...
Gideon Reader ,   USA   (10.30.11)
...American Nathan Hale or Brit Major Andre. They just dont sentance those who endanger the nation the way they used to.
46. Arrogant little lefty is getting off easy
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, DC USA   (10.30.11)
If the 4.5 year sentence holds, she'll be out in 3 years as 1/3 is regularly deducted for "good behavior". But most of Israel's judges are liberal or worse, so for them to give one of their own a 10 or 15 year sentence would have been hard to swallow. So they make do with a harsh rebuke to the accused for their crimes, followed by a light sentence.
47. #18 pretty? she looks like a cow sat on her face
Mike ,   Oxford UK   (10.30.11)
She desrves much longer
48. To: No. 31
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (10.30.11)
This was not whistle-blowing. If you think it was, then why are you not storming the ramparts screaming for the release of Jonathan Pollard -- he did not take any money, either. Do keep in mind that the charge sheet on Pollard was authored by no one other than Aldrich Ames. The whistle-blowing statute covers only civilian crimes of graft and corruption -- similar to the U.K.'s Bribery Act. Ours, by the way, is called the FCPA (Foreign Corrupt Practices Act). Get with the program.
49. To: No. 44
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (10.30.11)
What a pity he doesn't know what he is talking about. You and he can rock off into the sunset together in your shared cloud of ignorance. Bye.
50. Why are we so unforgiving????
Yael Schlichting ,   Raubling - Germany   (10.30.11)
Did she intend to harm Israel? Was she hateful against Israel?
51. Keep in mind ....
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (10.30.11)
.... that in many nations of the world, Ms. Kam would have a date with the hangman. As far as I am concerned, that would have been the far more appropriate sentence.
52. out of a potential 22 years she gets 4.5 DISGUTING
zionist forever   (10.30.11)
This is disgusting She steals classified military documents, passes them onto a reporter for publication, she lies to Shin Bet and she gets 4.5 years. By the time she has made her appeal and no doubt gets parrol she will end up serve two years maximum. When Blau returns arrest him at the airport. If anything his crime was worse because he was no naive young girl as she has tried to make the judges believe she was at the time. Blau was a seasoned reporter and he knew what he had and what the results of publication would be. Both of them should get life for these crimes and be stripped of their citizenship.
53. @1Sarah B* IS Jonathan Pollard A Traitor TOO?
the dude   (10.30.11)
54. This is an example of someone who thinks she's smarter than
A ,   Israel   (10.30.11)
everyone else. Notice the smug expression on her face.
55. @51 r u thinking Rosenbergs & USA? or what Pollard should...
(10.30.11)
have gotten? He's a traitor too you know! love it when you froth into a frenzy breaks your tight logic!
56. Not enough
Michael ,   Washington DC   (10.30.11)
Why are we so unforgiving? Because we have very bad experience with a forgiven terrorists and she is much worse than a terrorist – once she was one of us…
57. A Mere Slap on the Wrist to this Vile, Evil Traitor
Linda Rivera ,   New York, USA   (10.30.11)
It is unethical and disgraceful that Leftist Kamm was not tried and sentenced on the original charge of conspiring to deliberately harm state security. In some countries this evil traitor would have been given the death sentence. But Israel's Leftist court gives traitor Kamm, a mere slap on the wrist to their Leftist darling traitor. Is this any way to run a country? How can Israel survive when Israeli leaders don't care about protecting Israel?
58. To: No. 55
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (10.30.11)
Alger Hiss and Whittaker Chambers got off with a slap on the wrist. No shortage of spies who worked for money, rather than ideology, who spent only two or three years in prison, despite the fact that they spied for an ENEMY during the Cold War. Care to froth over that, oh nameless one? Don't challenge me on logic. You have none, and I will turn you into mincemeat. I am profoundly logical.
59. Trade for Pollard?
Marty ,   USA   (10.30.11)
Who the hell wants her here in the US?
60. #1 I second that !!!!
rachel ,   usa   (10.30.11)
