Jonathan Pollard provided information that enabled Israel to keep its foes at bay. According to the concept of having an ally, it was information that the United States should have provided to Israel, but did not. On the other hand, the United States provides all kinds of intelligence to genuine foes. Similarly, the United States has ignored or chosen to disregard genuine spies who spy for money on behalf of American enemies. Nothing that Jonathan Pollard delivered to the Israelis has resulted in damage to the United States or to Americans. Not a single American asset has been compromised. Would the same could be said for some seriously bad American spies who provided information which resulted in the loss of American assets in a whole range of countries. Those spies are all free. Is that your idea of justice? It isn't mine. Julius and Ethel Rosenberg were executed. Alger Hiss and Whittaker Chambers -- FAR more damaging -- were not. Must have something to do with Jews. Alternatively, they can keep her in solitary confinement for four and one-half years, and allow her to go slowly insane. Anat Kam is a monster. Make no mistake about that. To Americans Jonathan Pollard is a traitor for sure and he has been seriously punished .. not 4.5 years. Unlike Pollard Anat Kam betrayed her country and stole classified documents because she wanted the world to know what the IDF had done because these operations conflicted with her far left political ideals. Unlike the Israeli traitor Pollard didn't want to harm the Unites States. All he did was passed on information on things which affected Israel like the military capabilities of arab states. Nobody denies Pollard broke the law but alot of people feel he has been treated unfairly because even in the Cold War Russian spies got less severe punishments. The US intelligence community have got it in for Pollard personally and so whenever his released is considered they lobby the politicians. Both are criminals in their own country only one has had the book thrown at him and the other has got off with a slap on the wrist.

As far s I remember I read that Uri Blau made a deal with the state prosecuters that he would return to Israel if he would not be prosecuted. I also read at the time that he did not return all the documents he received from Anat Kam.

Of course she intended to harm Israel & of course she was hateful against Israel. She stole military classified documents, copied them & sold them to a left wing journalist who as of yet has not returned all the docuents he received from Kam, to the IDF. Anat Kam was not playing games here, she was out to hurt the IDF, the Governmet, the State of Israel, as much as she could. The 4 1/2 years jail time she got is a joke. This miserable yound stupid woman should sit in prison for at least 20 years without the hope of parole. WE still dont know the truth about who saw those documents & I guess we never will.

The same Soviets who were hostile enemies of the US, and the secrets they provided were high-level classified materials. Pollard didn't provide high-level classified materials, didn't do it for money, and shared it with a friendly nation which has never been, nor will be, a hostile entity against the US. Infact, the info Pollard stole is only that which the US promised to provide to Israel and broke their promise later. But on the topic of Russian spies. How come Pollard gets life in prison, but other Russian spies were released in less than 2 weeks and became public heroes back home, making a mockery of the US? And you don't see a double-standard here?

IDF should become a professional military, and they should stop harassing their citizens and making them serve! Especially the women, we're totally useless for the military anyhow, because they can't send us to fight, so instead they waste our time for 2 years in the military. Great, thank you soo much IDF!

Anat Kam is an idiot and she acted very very stupidly. But 5 years in jail? For what?! They're just making an example out of her. The message that this sends is "don't mess with the IDF, because we own this country". And they do. own. this. country. BTW, they are making all of us serve in the military instead of becoming a professional military (which would be both more effective and more efficient, not to mention more fair to the soldiers) because this way they get to have all this power over all of us.
