61. #23 "Loyal Jew": Get a life
Yitz ,   ISRAEL   (12.29.11)
I am also a "loyal Jew" and a proud Israeli and the father of 4 daughters. Let me tell you that if any haredi man spat on any of my girls, or called her a slut, that mamzer would have to deal with me face to face with bare knuckles. Meanwhile, why don't you get in a time machine and go back to the Middle Ages where you obviously belong.
62. #9 - Likes to pass judgement
Oren ,   Canada   (12.29.11)
Bob - Go to Israel and see for yourself before you blah blah blah all over this page. Also, look up "Theocracy"
63. #15. you lied! Your question is not interesting at all
Kevin ,   USA   (12.29.11)
64. The Haredi
ltrail ,   United States   (12.29.11)
While I respect all Jews as people, and mostly all of every religious background, This man obviously is full of himself and looks down on women. I'm glad that Israel's justice will correct him.
65. Do not invade my personal space. Not a religious objection,
Happy Secular ,   Tel Aviv   (12.29.11)
This issue is escallating into a vortex we may not be able to extricate ourselves from without a super-duper size explosion. My democratic right is to seat where I want on public transport. My democratic right is not to have someone invade my personal space. So when I am sitting where I want on public transport and move my body away from yours, why do you insist on moving yourself closer to me? In America, if a man did this to a woman is called sexual harressment. All parties have some valid points. All parties are pushing hard at the buttons of the other. And the media is making TONS OF MONEY by promoting these distortions.
66. #48 Egged prevented Haredi from having their own transport
Dror ,   Tel Aviv   (12.29.11)
67. Shiksa is not slut
Norman   (12.29.11)
However he should not call her a shiksa. But Really How many Israelis call women Zona's. Will the Judicial system prosecute all these men. Truly I think this is being prosecuted because he is Chareidi and that is a shame.
68. Chapters 4 & 5 of Judges should immediately be moved to the
meir elazar   (12.29.11)
Book of Judges How dare Deborah agree to Barak's (no relation to Ehud Barak thank G-d) plea to lead the Israelites in battle and risk her life (life Israeli soldiers) among male soldiers. And how about Yael killing Sisrah the enemy general? The Book of Judges must be immediately restructured placing Deborah who is currently in Chapters 4 and 5 at the back of the bus! Shame on her for even thinking of being in the front of the Book!!!!
69. Shikseh - Word Derivation
meir elazar   (12.29.11)
From my experience the Haredim I have encountered generally are brainwashed in a fashion not much different than the Moslems. Their focus is so much on the Talmud that they have lost the Torah, Jewish History, Ethics, and facts. The word derives from Shikutz which means INSECT and is clearly used as a pejorative word. Similarly most of the people I have encountered have no clue of where "Yarmulka" comes from. It derives from "Yirei Malka" which is Aramaic meaning the "Fear of G-d". Last December I sat on a plane and a Satmar teenager moved next to me because he would not sit next to a woman. The kid knew nothing of Hebrew grammar, Aramaic grammar, Jewish history, or anything. He could recite like a parrot everything he had ingested. But he knew absolutely nothing. Furthermore for all of those who similarly ingest what they are fed, let me surprise you. The "Miracle of the Hanukkah light" never happened! It was a myth, a fable that was made up hundreds of years later and the Prushim (Pharisees) who hated the Tzedukim (Saducees) adopted the fable over the true story.
70. NYC Girl and Word Shiksa
ltrail ,   Philly USA   (12.29.11)
I am a goy but learning some Hebrew. I used the term "Shiksa" to describe a Jewish merchants wife, recently. His wife is also a goy so trying to compare that in Hebrew for him, I said, "So she's a Shiksa". which I believed (and so do) meant non-Jewish woman. This article had me floored and feeling badly of my comment until I read your post. Thank You.
71. Poor Example!
Z.Z. Coltrane ,   USA   (12.29.11)
These Haredi idiots are a sorry excuse for being, supposed, men of God. They are the ones who should be made to sit at the back of the bus. The military men or women deserve nothing but respect for their service. I'm a country boy...and most of us are taught to give up our seat to a woman standing; we also open car doors for them. Women are a precious gift from God and should be treated as so! This punk should be glad I wasn't on that bus, because his sorry-arse would have been in the hospital for his disrespectful behavior. God bless Israel ;praying for the peace of Jerusalem! A Christian man...
72. SEPERATE STATE & RELIGION NOW
(12.29.11)
And let those Yeshiva students work, they are leaches that are living from taxpayers money, they don't work, they don't go to the army, they are extremists......enough is enough!!! Chapeau to Doron!!!
73. You are wrong zionist forever # 6
Arnold ,   Canada   (12.29.11)
This fuchs person said he has "freedom of speech". Agreed. But this woman has the right to be standing anywhere on a public bus. Whatever time and money it takes to come to a decision on who is right or wrong it needs to get done. Same with the little 8 yr old girl spat on and cursed by the same people.
74. @10, Not True, Jus didn't act like this before
jerry ,   nyc   (12.29.11)
This is Avodah Zorah (strange worship). On Yom Kippur, for thousands of years, the young of both genders would mingle around neila time to find a spouse. this here is really fake piety, cloaked in twisted interpretations of basic, known Juish law. This man is hardly an example for students to follow. We hope that they learn how not to act from him.
75. SOLDIER BITCH TROUBLE MAKER
LAWRENCE ,   SAFED ISRAEL   (12.29.11)
This nasty young woman deliberately went looking for trouble by sitting in an area of the bus reserved for men only .She is the one in the wrong and screw all of you who think otherwise.
76. Bob # 9
Arnold ,   Canada   (12.29.11)
Yes Israel is a western country. It is taking these incidents seriously. They are being debated and discussed and they will be righted.
77. Good for us real Jews
Arnold ,   Canada   (12.29.11)
There are 64 posts as of this time. 100% against Fuchs. That says a lot for us real Jews. We know right from wrong and we speak up against those in the wrong.
78. THANK YOU soldier Doron Matalon for your service. Bravo for
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (12.29.11)
standing up to an obnoxious man. You did the right thing and bless you.
79. I want my son to marry a woman like this!
Ezra ,   Sandiego USA   (12.29.11)
Honestly, I'm proud of her for serving Israel and she's got character. Regarding the bad words, the man has issues with gifts from HaShem.
80. The point here is that this girl is a soldier
Susan ,   Raanana   (12.29.11)
The point here is that this girl is a soldier and just like policemen and fire fighters, they have different status. This young woman was not joy riding. She rode a public bus in order to get to her army base. It should be an offense to physically or orally assault a soldier on duty. By the way "shiksa" is simply a Yiddish word for a non-Jewish woman. That's an insult? Is calling someone a Christian or Buddhist an insult? What a stupid person..... Susan
81. Even If Trouble Maker, Is That a Kosher Response?
jerry ,   nyc   (12.29.11)
Meanness and foul speech (much less violence) is not an appropriate response to that girl. In some societies, people kill each other to settle simple disputes. In Juish society, we try to build ourselves up so that the ego doesn't run the show. If she (or he for that matter) were breaking any laws, then they should be dealt with that way. If not, however, we need to leave it be, or, if you must, argue, but nothing more. Btw, in my circles of the frum world, I have never encountered people that would have acted the way he did. This is more commonly found in people who made tshuvah, sometimes to satisfy their own ego's desire to express this type of "piety." The Torah expects a bit more from us than Fuchs was able to muster.
82. It's interestsing
babawawa ,   new york, usa   (12.29.11)
how so many people here are cheering the arrest of the man accused of calling some a name. Excuse me, that's not democracy. It's fascism. I know everyone is all bent out of shape about the haredim right now, but cool it. If this guy gets sentenced to jail for name calling, that sets a precedent and freedom of speech dies. Is that what you all really want?
83. HOW DO YOU DARE?
Eliyahu ,   UK   (12.29.11)
With which courage do you offend a girl who is risking her life to allow you to study in Yeshiva?
84. Fuchs
Harold levine ,   Glasgow Scotland   (12.29.11)
What a disgusting way to treat a young woman who is serving her country. He should be locked up. Shame on you Mr.Fuchs you don't deserve to be on the same planet as this poor young girl
85. what a lovely girl :)
Eddie ,   London UK   (12.29.11)
beautiful soldier :P
86. Disgusting behavior but NOT sexual harrassment
William ,   Israel   (12.29.11)
The court in this case does NOT have the right to re-define previous laws. Sexual harassment is quite clear in that it covers unwarranted advances of a sexual nature. This is yet another case of the Leftist court system trying to re-define something to fit its own biased agenda. I do not agree with her being called a "slut" but it was not sexual harassment. If we allow the courts to re-define our boundaries then soon we will become a State of politically correct wussies, like the US, and no one will really know where any boundaries are because they can be argued in any direction by lawyers. Isn't that also a form of theocracy - based on the faux religion of Liberalism?
87. #4 - how RACIST of you...in EU
William ,   Israel   (12.29.11)
to paint an entire religion and millions of people with the same brush due to the actions of a minority few. You're the same people who rush to defend Muslim terror by claiming its committed by "a small minority" and all Muslims should not be painted with the same brush...even though the "small minority" is larger than the population of 27 small countries.
88. #14 - because facing forward, men can still see women
William ,   Israel   (12.29.11)
This whole charade is to make females responsible for the shortcomings of males. Even if men were at the back of the bus, they would see a woman at the front and would be tempted. Their lack of self-control is what is the issue here, and one that is addressed in the Tenach on so many levels. Judaism considers man (and woman) to be on this Earth in order to overcome their impulses and better control themselves. Because it's harder to do than to blame another person, all 3 major religions have made it a point to target women as the evil temptress and must be abused or covered up...for HER benefit. There is nothing stopping these men from looking down when a woman is in their midst. It's THEIR choice to avoid looking. Now if the woman danced provocatively in front of them, that would be a different story.
89. Susan , A "shikse" is PEJORATIVE
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (12.29.11)
We used it when we talked about a "bad" woman or girl . Ant it's not the name of a religion .
90. #85 - ALL of the Israeli girls are beautiful
William ,   Israel   (12.29.11)
That's why I married one!
