61. Hashem broke the teeth of the wicked
yehoshuabader ,   Tzfat, Israel   (04.17.12)
B"H You broke the teeth of the wicked. Psalms I hope the writers teeth get broken too!
62. MESSING WITH TZAHAL (I.D.F. )
DA RAP ARTIST ,   SAFED ISRAEL   (04.17.12)
Messing with soldiers here has ,and should have ,consequences. This danish fool has learned an important lesson in humility and manners and respecting someones elses' home .He will think ywice before threatening israeli soldiers again .Personally ,in Eisners' situation I would have like to have been far more brutal towards the danish terrorist supporter ,he would be in intensive care .
63. Try this stunt anywhere else!
Jake in Jerusalem ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (04.17.12)
I have personally witnessed people getting beaten much more forcefully and arrested in New York City by the NYPD for much, much less. This Danish anarchist would have lost most of his teeth if he tried this stunt facing an American cop - and don't even think of trying it with the US Marines. The same would be true in many countries. Israel has treated Andreas Las very gently. This is why these "anarchism tourists" love Israel - they certainly wouldn't do this anywhere else in the Middle East, where there are genuine human rights concerns!
64. Lenchner
hanan ,   Israel   (04.17.12)
is actually causing myriads more damage to Israel's image because of his ivory tower self image which portrays himself as a peace loving cultural human being. Really, one can easily foresee how his approach would lead to many damaging scenarios in which Jews would be hurt or even killed except he cannot see them. So, we have to keep battling among ourselves to control the idiotic invective of people like Lenchner instead of applying our energies towards more productive goals. Keep up the good work.
65. Disagree
solomon ,   bklyn   (04.17.12)
All it says is that Israelis are human.
66. Ynet, please keep your journalistic standards higher
Abraham ben Jacob ,   Canada   (04.17.12)
Ynet has built up credibility with many readers including myself. By printing this " tabloid " type trash article, Ynet demeans not only itself but also it insults it's readers. Please Ynet, don't let down your loyal built up readership base ; please keep your standards high.
67. Ziv: remove all mirrors at home, pronto!!!
tom ,   tel aviv   (04.17.12)
68. Lenchner is a subversive moron
Mahlon Drumgoole ,   Newark NJ USA   (04.17.12)
What a truly inane and hurtful article. Assuming the worse that the man was struck with no provocation, all it meant was one officer who did something that was wrong. That's it---one person perhaps did something wrong and Lenchneer indicts the entire country. Interestingly, Lenchner, like his fellow leftists, did not like the refusal to allow the wonderful anti-Israel and pro-Palestinians into Israel. I guess that he was unaware of the swastika that was left on the wall of the airport by one of Lenchner's friends. I wonder if the moron had access to the security reports on these wonderful people who came to Israel to show their support for the things represented by the swastika?
69. Syrian thug?
Thomas Dikel ,   Gainesville FL US   (04.17.12)
Regardless of whether this argument holds water, it lost all credibility when comparing striking the Danish protester to "Syrian thugs". In what universe is striking a protester in the jaw with a rifle butt analogous to mass murder, leveling of entire towns, and bully-murdering 10,000 people? This kind of hyperbole is what alienates the moderates, much less the right, from any chance of accepting these arguments about Israel losing its "moral" center. Personally I am appalled at the argument made here, but if the author wants to be able to convince us of this position, it would be best to ground the argument in some semblance of objective reality.
70. Are you kidding me?
Bryan ,   Chicago   (04.17.12)
A lone act of a soldier who only hit a guy in the face gets international attention? What? That doesn't even make sense and is clearly a propaganda attempt to portray Israel in negative light. Can you even comprehend the hundreds of people that are murdered worldwide? Ask why that doesn't get more attention than this!?
71. You didn't mention
Rachel   (04.17.12)
The officer in question had his finger and wrist broken by the out of control demonstrator. It's on the video for anyone to see. He admitted he was wrong, and expressed remorse,so why can't you let it go at that? The Palestinians, who people like you feel so sorry for, never show any remorse for any horrible thing they do,even when they slit the throats of infants.
72. Excellent article...
esnuffnstl ,   USA   (04.17.12)
...that will, of course, fall on deaf ears here as well as be subject to endless scorn.
73. Wow!
Dshap ,   Miami USA   (04.17.12)
The facts are known, these "naive" activists were interfering with a nd disrupting the IDF detail for 2 hours. The "naive" bicyclist struck the Colonel with a stick, breaking the commanders fingers. Anyplace, anywhere, he would have been arrested and likely to suffer an accidental fall on the way to booking/ jail. Shame on the writer of the article for condemning the soldier and ignoring the circumstances of the event.
74. A Sanctimonious Bleeding Heart,who calls a brave
Yoav Naor ,   Haifa Israel   (04.17.12)
High ranking IDF officer a thug,I know exactly who I would call a thug between this writer and the BRAVE IDF soldier. No point in responding any further to this piece of idiotic trash................
75. The ugly face of the Sanctimonious Ziv Lenchner
Yoav Naor ,   Haifa Israel   (04.17.12)
What a load of crap. These are the kind of articles that you expect from the racist Guardian.....Eisner did nothing wrong he did what was needed to be done, only certain brown nosed Israeli's could think otherwise. He should be given a medal and promoted.
76. Rush
michael Pielet ,   israel   (04.17.12)
Rush to Judgement. I will wait until all the evidence is in. However, perhaps Israel is making a mistake when it fails to remove these anarchists from the country as soon as they make themselves known and start disrupting the public peace. When israel wants to it acts. The Jewish residents of the Gaza district were removed from their homes. Their supporters were prevented from demonstrating on their behalf by government security forces. Recently, Ehud Barak prevented Jews who had good title from residing in their home in Hebron. Something, smells here, something is not right. Selective enforcement of the law in favor of the enemies of israel, against the rights of the Jews of Israel.
77. @20: NOT a knife
Adam ,   Ashdod, Israel   (04.17.12)
I have seen the picture you are talking about. It isn't a knife; it is most likely a cigarette. You can tell from the size, shape, and how he is holding it. Unless he holds a knife differently than everyone else.
78. Ziv Lenchner
Ronny Judah ,   Melbourne Australia   (04.17.12)
You have fallen into the successful trap of the video taken only showing the officer striking the protester. The leftease know exactly how to degrade our soliders and jews just for the reason to show support for the Pals. They should go and take videos in Syria where the people are being Massacared. These Flytila people come to Israel just to cause trouble for Israel . The top incident is exactly what i am talking about. And you with your negative article, about our countary causes more damage exactly what you were aiming for. You will surely be punished from above. Shame on you.
79. Provocateur scum got what it deserved.
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (04.17.12)
It's just a shame that Mr. Eisner momentarily forgot that he could be being filmed, thus falling into their trap. "Moral decline" is a term that is probably more applicable to America and Europe, than it is to Israel.
80. The face of an anti-semite
Uri Pielet ,   New York   (04.17.12)
This officer deserves an award. The face of this innocent looking Dane, is the face of a virulent movement of anti-semites. Haters of Israel. Ziv is a dupe.
81. A little over the top
Ron ,   OC, US   (04.17.12)
One soldier gets carried away and the entire nation is on a level with Syria. Now that is WAY over the top. I don't see any Arab state having the ISM and I don't see the ISM volunteering for any Syrian duty. Or Egyptian, or Jordanian, or Tunisian, or Libyan, or Saudi Arabian, or Iranian....I think this artical is way out of line.
82. The headline here is a disgrace, but
meghan ,   israel   (04.17.12)
we are a democracy, and unlike our neighbors. If not Lenchner would be in jail suffering who knows what kind of torture. Its a pity our propaganda machine isnt anywhere as good as those that doctor these videos to go their favor, but this isnt the first time, wont be the last. Lenchner, take a valium, calm down and i for one can look in the mirror and say provocation has its price, you strike out, be prepared to be struck back!
83. you are missing the point
Naftali ,   Israel   (04.17.12)
Did you miss the part where he himself said what he did was wrong? People make mistakes and do things they regret especially in difficult situations. Standing up and saying I was wrong is the highest level of moral behavior, even more so when done on a public stage. He had a difficult job even with training things happen at times that shouldn't this is not moral decline but human nature. As far as people standing up for him that is just what family does.
84. I saw that too, #20. But no one talks about THAT.
oh come ON! ,   Haifa   (04.17.12)
Our military stands on the front lines for us every day. They have to deal with the ugly, lop-sided, hypocritical anti- Israel world we sit and read about. In ALL countries, ALL OVER THE WORLD officers ocationally lose it and lash out. WHY does the world, (and our own *cough* journalists) act as if Israeli's are not like all other human beings and lose their cool now and again just like all other human beings, but are in "moral decline" when reacting like all other human beings? This op-ed is completely hypocritical and as usual, way overly harsh on Israel.
85. can not "no comment"
Borislava ,   Sofia, Bulgaria   (04.17.12)
Every normal person would like to slapped this "activist" only "humanists" as Ziv Lenchner see "the ugly face" in the Middle East. Ziv, change your chip, hamuda. Open your "eyes wide shut." The story is refracted through your "strange" point of view and emotions. Eisner is not the enemy, he is a defender of Israel
86. to19
(04.17.12)
selfe hating ... i never hate myselfe but blame it if there were wrong behavior i think it is a healthy sigh personaly or in a sociaty .. and when it is - jew selfe hate it apear as a stamp to jew it is not fine as if he jew must hate others . iam not a jew but i do not like this stamp to any one
87. Well said! Finally someone showing things fr what they are!
jude   (04.17.12)
The shocking brutality of this act is beyond sanity - this officer needs a shrink (and apologize)
88. Ugly face of self hating Jew
Yosef Y. MSc' ,   USA   (04.17.12)
Ynet - why do you even bother to publish this self serving trash - have you also adopted the "noble objectivity" of Israeli self-haters? From this "artist"s ejaculations to the "flytilla" perverse mentality is but one step, idiots !
89. Ludicrous!
Ethan ,   Canada   (04.17.12)
This article is garbage.
90. Disgraceful article. Disgraceful comparison.
L ,   Canada   (04.17.12)
Well over 4000 innocent people have been butchered in Homs. Approximately 500 cases of rape have been alleged in the syrian uprising. And you shamefully compare an IDF Lt. Colonel to a "syrian thug in homs" BEFORE a trial and after watching 1 minute of edited video, filmed by an admittedly biased source?!?!?!? Shame on you Ziv Lenchner, you disgust me. You are the one who sullies israel's name and you disgust Jews worldwide. If it is fair for you to make your disgraceful comparison, then it is surely as fair that i compare you to joseph goebbels. He too used disgraceful and disingenuous comparisons to sway public opinion and propaganda. Shame on you for writing in an israeli newspaper with the pen of a nazi propagandist. you are the one who "ought to look in the mirror". and shame on ynet for printing such utter dribble.
