1. Reabsorption of Gaza back to Egypt, half are Egyptians
PETER SM ,   MELBOURNE AUSTRALIA   (07.22.12)
anyway. They can help add to the chaos & anarchy in Sinai and kill off any chance of resurgent tourism. The invented Palestinians in area A&B can rejoin their brothers in Jordan
2. Good riddance!
frauss ,   Jerusalem   (07.22.12)

Our motto must be FREE GAZA . . . FROM HAMAS!
5. Egypt needs someone to maintain the security on its eastern
Alan ,   SA   (07.22.12)
front... LOL
6. Israel should close its crossing NOW
And cut the ,   electricity to Gaza   (07.22.12)
7. Brilliant idea!
Mira ,   Vienna   (07.22.12)
Gaza to Egypt! So they can settle their rotten economy together. Hamas is realizing that she did not and will never achieve what she wants. I wish you a lot of fun with your brotherhoodly terrorists, Egypt!
8. Feel sorry for the Palestinian People
Michael ,   U.k.   (07.22.12)
Feel sorry for the Palestinian People, these are certainly a leaderless people,,,, Damn
9. I agree with 2, should have been done years ago
tf ,   herzliya   (07.22.12)
10. A breach of Egypts intl. liabilities!
Yael Schlichting ,   momentarily:Or Akiva   (07.22.12)
Egypt cannot go very far on this path, without breaching intl. liabilities. Neither the 1923 Lausanne mandates nor the 1979 Washington cover any of the prospects drawn in this article. Israel should try to regain control over the Gaza strip without terrorists, as it is strategly important for her position against Egypt.
11. A positive change for Israel
Avi   (07.22.12)
If Gaza is declared a separate entity from the WB then a land corridor cutting Israel in half in a future peace agreement is no longer optional and legitimized, they would be 2 different countries. Furthermore this would force Hamas to gain even more responsibility over anything that happens in its territory. And last but not least, Gaza is a hostile entity, yet Israel provides it with tons of aid and electricity. Let Gaza be Egypt's burden and responsibility.
12. Great Idea
TalA ,   London, UK   (07.22.12)
Maybe they will start firing rockets at Egypt when Egypt realises that they all want to live in Cairo and close the gates!
13. Finally, cut electricity, water and everything else
Yuval Lerner ,   Panama City, Panama   (07.22.12)
They can go and ask it from Egypt, at least the world cannot add Gaza to our imaginary ocupation list
14. Gaza back to Egypt. Finally
Arnold ,   Canada   (07.22.12)
Gaza was an Egyptian protectorate post WW1 and the breakup of the Ottoman Empire. Egypt refused to take back Gaza as part of the peace agreement with Israel. I see this as a win win situation. Gaza will be open to the world via Egypt. No reason to attack Israel.
15. Make It Happen Soon!
Bill Foonman ,   Jacksonville, USA   (07.22.12)
Any way that Israel can distance itself from that toxic cancer on its border is just fine. That way, the next time Hamas attacks Israel they will be dealt with as a hostile independent state. They won't like the results and thinking that Egypt will be there to rescue them will set them up for another nasty disappointment.
16. So this Terrorist haiyena Has Made His Bed!
(07.22.12)
As Many Have Said ISRAEL Has No Peace Partner, Bibi This is Your Que to Turn off the Electricity, cease water and All Exports to gaza! Next abu mazen will start running around for another host to Latch on to! Bibi, A.Lieberman Need To Hold A Confrence Telling The World that There Will Be No More Wasting Time on arab/bedouins aka pali's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anex Sinai, Judea and Samaria!!!!!!! Send a Memo to sillery and b.H.o. And androgenous ashton About How Israeli Will Never GIVE AWAY any Jewish Land Anymore! The FRACTIONED arabs NEVER Intended To Come To The Table and Never Intended To Be Peace Partner's! Their so-called religion of Piece Only Wants What Israel Has LAND Given To Them By Ha Shem!
17. Nevers,
Other X   (07.22.12)
90 % of gazan are refugees, jews coming from Europe and elsewhere have stolen their land. They have nothing to do with Egypte.
18. Good idea
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (07.22.12)
That will put an end to "Palestine" forever and it is a non-viable entity as well. Win win for Israel - loss for both Egypt and Gaza. Keep up the stupidity - you too will manage to kill yourselves.
19. Another gimmick
Ron ,   US   (07.22.12)
To divert attention from Hamas leadership failure. Expertise in squandering Palestinian money on terror. That unity government was a real bust.
20. Bad idea for Israel
solomon ,   bklyn   (07.22.12)
This will preempt one of Israel's [correct] arguments: that Israel cannot come to an agreement with the PA as long as they associate with the terrorists of Hamas. Abbas will still not return to talks with Israel, but will be able to state one more 'reason' for the world to recognize the WB as a country; that they are no longer affiliated with Hamas.
21. Gaza wants
tiki ,   belgium   (07.22.12)
What Gaza wants is one thing. What Egypt wants is a total different thing. When Egypt took back Sinai, they didn't (under no circumstance) want Gaza back. Getting rid of Gaza equals getting rid of a migrane.
22. No more convoys!
Madeleine ,   Rehovot Israel   (07.22.12)
So if that's the case can we please stop the supply convoys, stop supplying them with water and electricity and let them go to Egyptian hospitals when the need arises. They can't have it both ways. Why do we have to give them anything at all?
23. #17
Madeleine ,   Rehovot Israel   (07.22.12)
Excuse me!!!! there hasn't been a single Jew in Gaza - apart from Gilad Shalit unti lhe was rescued - since the forced deportation of Gaza's Jews in 2005. The first thing the Palestinians (Hamas) did on taling possession was to smash all the greenhouses left by the Jewish farmers when instead, they could have worked them and had some sort of economy in the strip. Nothing has been stolen from them.
24. Haniyeh is deluding himself
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (07.22.12)
"Our relations with the new Egyptian regime are based on a balance of needs," a Hamas official said. "Gaza Strip needs a commercial pathway with Egypt and Egypt needs someone to maintain the security on its eastern front." I dare say that Hamas would rather have a commercial pathway with Egypt than tunnels. The other half of this statement is nonsense.Egypt needs the Gaza Strip like a hole in the head.Egypt doesn't need a bunch of terrorists to maintain security on its 'eastern front'. It isn't fighting a war and it doesn't have an 'eastern front'....it has an eastern border with Israel and the Gaza Strip. As long as the Egyptian government doesn't renege on its Peace Treaty with Israel,it has peace with Israel. I see this as a veiled threat by Hamas on Egypt.....meet their demands or Hamas cause Egypt trouble in their usual ways. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
25. #1 - according to Mashaal
William ,   Israel   (07.23.12)
Half of Gazans are Egyptians and the other half are Saudis.
26. KNEW IT WAS GOING TO HAPPENAND GOOD NEWS!!
Iranian Jew ,   LA   (07.23.12)
There is no other solution but to let the Gazan choose between killing and living. Let Egypt take care of their problem. And let's say goodbye to the old useless peace process and a new peace with Egypt and Gaza. Now, the short king needs to come to his senses before MB sends him packing. Jordan is Palestine & that is it.
27. "Hamas will protect Egypt's Eastern side"
William ,   Israel   (07.23.12)
When I hear this I am reminded of a mentally-disturbed person who lights forest fires then shows up is his own mocked-up fire fighting gear as a first responder. Had Islamists never entered Gaza, there would be no need for protection on Egypt's Eastern side because it would be peaceful - and countless Israeli and Gazan lives would have been spared.
28. Some where, John Gunness of UNWRA is having panic attack
William ,   Israel   (07.23.12)
yelling "NO, NO, NO - you'll put us out of a job!"
29. #17 - and yet, 99% can't priove ownership to their land
William ,   Israel   (07.23.12)
Huh - so how do they "own" the land but have no proof of said ownership? Perhaps you should do a little fact checking - like reading Mashaal's statement earlier this year - that Gazans are really Egyptians and Saudis (so both States own it to Gaza to help them). Arafat was Egyptian, and so is Hamas (an off-shoot of the Muslim Brotherhood). And let's not forget Haniyeh's immortal words in 2005 following Israel's withdraw of Jews from Gaza, where he announced Hamas' triumph in "forcing Jews to leave their own land" (referring to historically - and legally - Jewish land in Gush Katif). Apparently, they ARE students of history, unlike you.
30. #6 WHY BE SO HOSTILE???
Iranian Jew ,   LA   (07.23.12)
Gazans know that they have no choice but to rely on Egypt. Mubarak did not want to deal with Gaza. MB wants to take care of it. Let's let them get to it. Going back to Gaza was their last choice anyway. WB will have to do the same thing one day soon.
