The fact remains that Americans have a constitutional right to keep & bear arms & there will be a bloodbath if ANY party, whether it be congress, the white house, the UN or even the supreme court. Most people are sick of having to give up their rights because of knee jerk responses to tragedies. Instead of more laws, we need to examine why things are so different now than they were back in the 50's & before. There were guns in every home & had been for generations but this stuff didn't happen. Why?? IMHO, the nation that falls away from G-d, G-d fearing people compromising their faith, adults that care more about their own wants & desires than how their children grow up, when politicians compromise what is right, true & just, THIS IS WHAT WE GET!!! STOP COMPROMISING OUR FAITH & BOWING DOWN TO THOSE THAT HAVE NO FAITH!!!!
62. #6, thoughtless talking point!
Steve   (12.17.12)
Tyrannical government? You have forgotten to mention space alien and zombie attack! What nonsense, if the U.S. govt. should ever become tyrannical, you have already lost. Your video game/B movie scenario of fighting against govt. forces is folly. This is not 1821 and a "militia" of you and your fantasy football buddies would be destroyed in 15 minutes by heavily armed troopers. This country is lousy with assault weapons and if Friday's heart wrenching events do not impact your gun zeal you should not be in possession of any firearms in my estimation.
63. NRA nuts
Jon ,   USA   (12.17.12)
You are probably belong to the group on nuts called NRA. The NRA have the blood of 20 children on it's hands. enough is enough, what else makes sense to you , to go hunting with missiles? You are NRA nuts and will go down in history as such.
64. TO NR. 7.
SJOERD VAN DER VELDE ,   HOORN NH, HOLLAND   (12.18.12)
VERY WELL AND WISE SPOKEN. I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU. PEOPLE WHO BEHAVE IN SUCH A WAY ARE PRIMITIVE, PRE-HISTORICAL BARBARIANS AND CRIMINALS.
65. TO NR. 23.
SJOERD VAN DER VELDE ,   HOORN NH, HOLLAND   (12.18.12)
IF YOU ARE SHOT DOWN YOURSELF AND YOU ARE LUCKY TO SURVIVE THAT, YOU WILL TALK OTHERWISE. I DO NOT WISH THAT TO ANYBOBY. THE U.S. ARE REALLY A GREAT AND A GOOD ''EXAMPLE'' IN SUCH A CASE FOR THE REST OF THE WORLD/MANKIND. IAM HAPPY THAT I DO NOT LIVE IN THE U.S.
66. TO NR. 25.
SJOERD VAN DER VELDE ,   HOORN NH, HOLLAND   (12.18.12)
THERE IS SOME SENSE AT YOUR POINT THIS TIME. ALTHOUGH I PARTLY AGREE WITH YOU I CAN UNDERSTAND THIS OPINION OF YOU.
67. TO NR. 54.
SJOERD VAN DER VELDE ,   HOORN NH, HOLLAND   (12.18.12)
IN THAT CASE THE U.S. CAN TAKE AN EXAMPLE TO ISRAEL.

SJOERD VAN DER VELDE ,   HOORN NH, HOLLAND   (12.18.12)
YOUR TACKBACK IS CORRECT. IF THIS GOES ON AND ON, THE U.S. CAN END UP IN A REAL CIVIL WAR CAUSING THE END OF THE U.S., SHOOTING AND KILLING EACHOTHER. I HOPE THAT THIS CAN BE AVOIDED.
69. TO NR. 60.
SJOERD VAN DER VELDE ,   HOORN NH, HOLLAND   (12.18.12)
I THINK THAT EVERY IDIOT CAN BUY WEAPONS AND CAN GET A DRIVER''S LICENCE EASILY IN THE U.S., NO MATTER WHAT THE CONSEQUENCES ARE/WILL BE. U.S. BRING YOUR OWN HOUSE IN ORDER AT LAST, BEFORE MEDDLING WITH/JUDGING OTHER COUNTRIES.
70. Solving the gun problem
graczek ,   Maryland, USA   (12.18.12)
Very simple. Initially, the Second Amendment to the US Constitution must be repealed. If Congress won't start the process, then President Obama needs to declare a state of siege, suspend civil liberties and Constitutional guarantees, and order gun confiscation pending a convention to draft and ratify a new Constitution. The one we have now was obsolescent when ratified in 1787 and has long been obsolete. It has to be replaced.
71. To #6 - another NRA nut
Jon ,   USA   (12.17.12)
You are out of your mind. When was the last time there was a tyranny government in the USA? But children are dying because of the NRA, we have too many times. What else you nuts want to protect yourselves: cannon, ballistic missiles, atomic bomb? is there no end to your paranoid?
72. To #17
Jon ,   USA   (12.17.12)
Who is talking about the right to bear arm?? we are talking if a sane society has the right to bear assault rifle with huge magazine. And by the way, can you define arm? what about personal missile? was that also in the constitution. Look, you NRA nuts went too far, and you know it.
73. To # 23 Another NRA nut
Jon ,   USA   (12.17.12)
"Guns dont kill people, people kill people " Whenever you see that sentance ,you know you are dealing with a member of the NRA cult. and if you'll see this sentence "Atomic bomb dont kill people, people kill people" you'll know who are you dealing with
74. To #50 you're right,no more dirving liscence
Jon ,   USA   (12.18.12)
Most accidents are cause by a very small segment of the population. So why don't we abolish the driving regulations? We can go far with you demented logic.
75. #43 Learn how to read
David M ,   Miami Florida   (12.18.12)
I dont put the right to bear arms before small innocent children, please learn how to read. I am stating if the teachers were allowed to carry then they could have defended themselves and that guns dont kill people... people kill people. If you had any common sense you would understand that a mentally disturbed person got a hold of guns that they should not have had access to. A mentally disturbed person can also get a hold of a tractor and run over innocent people much like occurred in Israel. Do you really believe its the gun that did the killing? Get educated Haim, or dont post.
76. To #38, #36
Benjamin ,   Denver, CO   (12.18.12)
Dear Madeleine, You really should get educated in the subject before spouting nonsense. In order to purchase a long gun in the US, you need to be of age (18). If you are old enough to die for your country, you are old enough to purchase a long gun. For handguns, you must be 21. You MUST provide identification and fill out paperwork which si then passed through the states respective bureau of investigations (and some states the federal as well). You do not need a "gun license" to own a gun. YOu need a carry permit to carry a CONCEALED handgun, and many states allow open carry (although some local jurisdictions ban it). AS for "assault weapons" - that is a political term which has nothing to do with reality. All of these weapons are not automatic weapons, and therefore not assault weapons. Just because they resemble the military item does not make it a military weapon. This "Harry" owns multiple such "assault weapons", as well as many handguns (both semi automatic and revolvers). We use them for sport, recreation, competition, and most importantly self-defense. BTW, before the PC society took over, middle schools and high schools used to teach gun safety in this country - your equivalent to what you deem a "gun license" - but the idiotic left did away with that. FWIW, I am a firearms and tactical instructor, and train many people every year in the responsible and effective use of a firearm for personal defense.

Benjamin ,   Denver, CO   (12.18.12)
Haim, DO you think for a minute that someone intent on committing such a crime will not do so without a gun? You are utterly naive. Have you noticed that every mass-casualty attack has been in a "gun free zone"? Do you have the mental capacity of putting 2+2 together? When a perpetrator goes into a gun free zone, he is guaranteed of not having any resistance. In other words, he has entered a "target rich environment". You expect law enforcement to prevent such tragedies? If so, I have a birdge to sell you, my friend. Today, K-12 are gun free zones. If teachers wishing to carry were ALLOWED to carry, after being properly trained, the outcomes would be totally different.
78. #63, NRA nuts
Benjamin ,   Denver, CO   (12.18.12)
You, sir, are mistaken. The political left is the one with blood on its hands. Pull your head out of the sand and look at the number of murders in the most heavily controlled states/cities - they are by far higher than those with "shall issue" gun policies. By declaring your "gun free zones", you have designated them killing zones for any nutjob - and to commit such crimes they do not need guns. Also, please look up at the statistics. THis particular crime was perpetrated with legally ontained guns by the mother, but the moment he murdered his mother and STOLE the guns, they became illegal guns. Very few crimes are committed with legal guns, and by all estimates there are about 250 MILLION legal guns in the US.

If you're willing to give up your constitutional rights then renounce your citizenship & move to Europe!!
80. The NRA serves to keep clowns like you at bay, Jon
Cameron ,   USA   (12.18.12)
Effective the NRA has been. Neither the Prez nor progressive lackeys in the Congress dare cross swords with the NRA and the right of firearm ownership.
81. Guns
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (12.18.12)
For more statistics on "gun free" versus "must own a gun," google the name "Kennesaw, GA.' This is a small town north of Atlanta, which, as somewhat of a joke, passed a law that every homeowner has to own a gun. The consequences are astounding. Since the law was passed in l985, there has been only one murder. And if that's not enough, check out the crime rate in Australia before and after guns were outlawed.

Practice what you preach. You don't make stupid comments about the U.S. and I will keep quiet about Holland.
83. #23
frauss ,   Jerusalem   (12.18.12)
"Guns don't kill people, people kill people". Actually people with guns kill people and are, unfortunately able to do so very easily and efficiently. The argument for outlawing kitchen knives, lighters, stairwells, etc. is nonsense. All these items were designed for different purposes, unlike assault rifles that are specifically designed for killing people. No one wants to deprive the poor Americans of their sport weapons, just to make it harder for the average or below average Joe from getting weapons justifiably used by the military.
84. #24 Statistics
frauss ,   Jerusalem   (12.18.12)
Are there any statistics on how many people actually protected themselves or their property with a firearm? I'm sure there are a lot of statistics on people who unwittingly shot family members in the middle of the night. Or kids who shot themselves or others by accident with their father's gun. Or people who accidentally died in hunting accidents. I have a feeling this "protecting yourself with a firearm" is vastly overblown and misleading.

David M ,   Miami, Florida   (12.19.12)
"Actually people with guns kill people", is a ridiculous, illogical statement and were not "poor American's" I'm sad that you get the privilege of calling yourself an Israeli b/c you are the lowest kind. I feel safer in Israel than anywhere else as everyone carries guns and you take that for granted and spew left wing rhetoric at America. I am positive my family in Maale Adumim, Hedera, Rishon and even Tel Aviv would disagree wholeheartedly with you. People intent on killing other people, will use any means necessary to kill. It doesn't need to be a gun it can be any item regardless of what that item was designed for (including kitchen knives and lighters). I dont consider my guns as "designed for killing", I consider them "designed to protect and deter" which is exactly how I use them. The issue that needs to be resolved is a mental patients access to guns, not taking guns away from people who rightfully and lawfully have them. I do agree with you on perhaps making assault weapons harder for the average Joe to obtain but this would set a dangerous precedent and I prefer we solve the real issue rather than do meaningless token rituals like ban one gun but not another. Think about it please... what has the ban on drugs done? Do you honestly believe if a mental patient cant access an assault rifle that a Glock 26 or a car at 65 MPH wont do? Keep dreaming. There was enough ammo between the two pistols and cartridges to do the same damage. I own a Glock 26 and it comes with (2) 10 round clips and the Sig Sauer makes up the difference.

complete lack of understanding English grammar and your lack of spell check skills. I am not sure but in reading your statements I am led to believe you are speaking Ebonics and your name is "Jon" from America... I dont think so. I am inclined to believe it is "Koshek" from Afghanistan or Turkey as I have read some previous posts which I will ask my Turkish computer tech to decode.
87. #65 Thank you for not living in U.S.
David M ,   Miami, Florida   (12.19.12)
We too are grateful you do not live here and I will defend myself with my guns prior to being shot down. You, sir, should keep your opinions in Holland where they belong. A country that did NOTHING while my grandfather was thrown into Bergen Belsen by the locals in Amsterdam. Since you go off topic, so shall I. Make no mistake, as I speak Dutch and have fond memories of the place as a child but dont judge the U.S. at all as you are the last country that should be judging anyone with the blind eye your entire nation turned on the Jews during WWII.
88. Not Just America Is Sweeping Under the Carpet
Sivan ,   Jersualem/Israel   (12.19.12)
We all have our part to play with what is happening in society if its in the U.S. or overseas. We live in system based on self interest, competition, intellect & consumerism ( we have traded in all the values that make us human and exchanged them for something else, and this is just another tragic symptom of what we have created together) We are all consistently affected/under the influence of various external & internal factors, extensive scientific research has proven this time over time, as a matter of fact we discover how deeply interconnected our entire system is that one branch of science now a days cannot draw 100 percent conclusions without taking into consideration all the other sciences, And these same factors are applied to all parts of our lives, there are much deeper details/facts that need to be learned so that we can truly understand & deal with all the turmoil happening around us in the most positive and mutually beneficial direction for all of society as a whole. We do not need to wait to attend university in order to attain a degree in psychology, these are tools that are critically lacking in society and can be learned in a positive direction beginning from a very young age.We need to build together an education system/environment for all of us (adults¬ just children/youth) that is based on issues of the heart!
89. NRA upholds constitutional rights of Americans.
Chaim ,   Israel   (12.19.12)
Those who want to take guns away from Americans are anti-freedom and anti-constitution. The NRA upholds the constitutional rights of Americans to bear arms.
