61. Totally different situation!!!
Jake Stone ,   USA   (06.13.13)
This guy is another godless heathen! Israel is unique by way of being the only country that has a land-rite given to them by God! God owns the land...it's His--period! However, in the Abrahamic Covenant, ALL the land from the Nile River to the Eurphates River is bequeathed to Israel; the promises given to Israel's Forefathers guarantees this fact. For this clown to compare Israel to South Africa, just shows how spiritually bankrupt/dead many Jews are concerning the Holy Land. The Jewish soul (spirit) is a part of the living land; a fire within their hearts' should burn for every inch of its parceled acreage! God is the true Zionist! I'm a gentile, Christian Zionist whose own heart yearns to live on God's land with His chosen people. It breaks my heart to see the Israeli leadership even contemplating such a foolish, irresponsible act of giving their land away to the godless, Muslim savages! This MUST be stopped; the land must be conquered, as God had ordered in the Torah; until it is done, the Muslim animals' will always be that proverbial thorn in the side! God bless Israel; praying for the peace of Jerusalem!!!
62. Israel and Apartheid
Ariye ,   Mata, Israel   (06.13.13)
Unfortunately, Selah's conclusion may be right. BUT, the Israel haters/ anti Semites deliberately ignore the fact that the vast majority of Blacks, despite 350 years of harsh subjugation, did not call for the extermination of the White South Africans: see the ANC Charter. On the other hand, all the "Charters" of the various Palestinian groups state in the clearest terms that the extermination of the Jews/Israel is their declared objective. Where is their Mandela?
63. Yesh Atid has NO FUTURE = traitors
(06.13.13)
64. To 49 Your opinion might be in good Faith, but you are....
Ari ,   Jerusalem   (06.13.13)
missing a point. The Palestinian Tragedy was not brought by Israel, thgat is a tergiversation of History. When UN aproved a partition the arabs rejected and declare war. Paleswtinian, most of them left because their leader pushed them to leave. AS in any war therw were disposations, so were in the Jewish side. Mostly of Esat Jerusalem in 1948 was Jewish, and those people became the first Refugees. The refugee palestinian problem is unique in world history. More than 50 millions refugees from WWII in Eurospe were reintegrated from one country to another, more than 60.millions refugees where reintegrated between India and Pakistan. Those problems ended. Palestinians where made refugees by their own brother the arabs. The only refugees that inherit refugees rights are the Palestinians, not only t their sons but even to their grea great great grandsons. It was the arab league who create the problem forbiding arab countries holding refugees to integrate them, eternizing the problem. In 1948 Jordan did not accept a Palestinian State it anexed all the West bank for itself. But since that was not enough and they still wanted to anhihilate Israel they declare the 6 day war which they lost. The war was not against Palestinians it was against Jordan. All the people in the west bank had Jordanina passports. Part of the Land lost in 1948 to Jordan was Jewish. Israel integrated more than 800.000 thousand refugees from arab countries who despossed, evicted killed etc they were more than the arabs that left The Mnadate in 1948. I gave you severl facts that are true. The other problem is that Palestinians dont want to talk using excuses such as those of settlements. Befoe there was a Settlement problem arabs rejected peace anyway. The real problem is that arabs dont accept Israel's existense. Mostly for religious reasons. What has been Islamist cannot cease to be Islamist. And that is one of the main problems. The second is that Palestininas dont accept Israel as the Jewish State. Israel has respected all it's minorities since it was created. So think all this
65. Refreshing...
Raoul ,   Herzliya. Israel   (06.13.13)
To hear some common sense for a change, in regard to "settlements".
66. Clarification
Raoul ,   Herzliya. Israel   (06.13.13)
I only agree with Shelah about settlements, and NOT with his comparison to South Africa. Putting down roots in disputed territory is not the way to go.
67. Non Jew knowing the jist of the leftists.
Michael Ganoe ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (06.13.13)
First of all these are NOT SETTLEMENTS, but new neighborhoods and the muslims in JUDEA & SAMARIA (left bank to the leftists) and I have yet to see the muslims/arabs, who are funded by the global leftist community (400 billion from the U.S.) design and keep anything close as to the beauty the Jews have created in the "disputed territories" OWNED by the Jewish peopled. I am tired of Isreali's/Jewish taking the slap to the face and punch to the gut. You could give away ALL OF THE WEST BANK and at the end of the day THEY WILL WANT MORE. The arabs/muslims have proven that via social media, news media, and public forum speeches via the U.N. and other governmental forums. So why do you continue to sell your people out to those who may not pull the trigger or detonate the bomb, but certainly whisper encouragement and approval in their ear.
68. (11) Mike UK
tiki ,   belgium   (06.13.13)
And what makes you think that anyone gives a hoot what people in the UK think, as Her Majesties professional occupiers were the main culprit in all the ME problems of today (and other parts of the planet). You better start worrying about your own little island which you can split up in the not so far away future as a land for two people, Brits & Arabs!
69. Shela's : You can't occupy your land
norbus ,   Jerusalem   (06.13.13)
Even if you do not believe the covenant made with the Jewish people, Even if you believe Palestinians are more the economic migrants who came to the land 2 to 4 generations ago Even if you believe the Koran does not advocate terminating all the Jews Even if you believe the Arabs won the Land by conquest in the 7th Century You must believe that Jews won back the land by conquest in 1967 Jewish State has the right to survive
70. South Africa
Ben   (06.13.13)
Whites are fleeing south africa from rape murder and discrimination some model for coexistence not
71. Difference between S.A. and Israel...
Ivan ,   South Africa   (06.13.13)
at least we had black educated leaders like Nelson Mandela that we could trust......how many Palestinian leaders can be trusted....
72. #42 you will find
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (06.13.13)
No one expects Leftists to show any morality or intelligence. You will find that a few years ago Mr. Selah strongly condemned Israel for not surrendering the Golan to Assad, you know the Assad who uses Sarin gas against civilians. It comes with being a Leftist
73. three questions to help you understand
Daniel ,   Jerusalem   (06.13.13)
Ofer Shelah of Yesh Atid before you accuse Israel of turning into South Africa ask yourself three questions: Why are you here in Israel? What are the borders of Eretz Yisrael (Rabbi Piron can help you if you don't know)? When did the occupation of Judea and Samaria begin? (This last one is a trick question, better ask Rabbi Piron to help you with this one too)
74. #59 Illegal. See UNSCR465, for starters
On the Balcony ,   Akko/NY/Kyiv   (06.13.13)
Larry, neither the arguments of individual lawyers nor the isolated opinions of a single nation constitute international law. The UN GA/SG/SC, the International Court of Justice, the High Contracting Parties of the Geneva Convention, ICRC, and almost every country in the world including the U.S. and EU ---in effect, the nations and organizations responsible for creating, interpreting and applying international law, consider Israel to be an occupying power and the settlements illegal. That's not my opinion. It's verifiable fact. Read for example, UN Security Council Resolution 465 condemning settlements on the occupied territory an impediment to peace and a “flagrant violation” of international law. The Israeli High Court itself considers the territories to be under a “belligerent” occupation. ( Note: the settlements are illegal but not the military occupation.)
75. #74 international law
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (06.13.13)
NATO destruction of Yugoslavia, Obama destruction of Libya, Obama droning civilians in Pakistan and Afghanistan, Obama supplying weapons to Sunni Jihad are all illegal and war crimes. Assad's occupation of Lebanon was illegal. Did any one care? International law is a farce, and everyone knows it. It has no meaning except another way for the strong to attack the weak.
76. yesh atid stand up comedy show
normal 1 ,   galil north israel   (06.13.13)
Stalin referred to Jewish Communists as Useful Idiots, we now have Israelis serving the same purpose ( a digrunted yesh atid voter)
77. To, #57 and #64, Japan vs Israel
el turco ,   istanbul, turkey   (06.13.13)
i wrote and wrote and ended up with a 1000 word talkback. now i deleted it max 4000 chars allowed. so cutting short. #57 you are crazy i didnt say anything negative, why do you bring up kurds and get all defensive. yes we maltreated kurds and now fixing it. it doesnt justifiy what you do. also whats happening in turkey is not arab spring, it's the occupy movement. completely different dynamics. #64 thanks for understanding that im with good intentions. i see your arguments but dont agree, i still believe real estate games are being played and thats it. the rest is bureaucracy and demogogue speech. just fix it already. stop being so militaristic and being a police state. you live in gestapo stasi land with mossad. whats up with everybody being soldiers over there are you living in a nordi mythology legend? chill...
78. MK and South Africa
Leib ,   NYC   (06.13.13)
This mk might think that Israel took something from some one , the truth is it is the land of Israel it all belongs to the Jews not the Arabs get the truth right it is not yours to give away
79. #74 on
solomon ,   bklyn   (06.13.13)
Yes, it is fact that all whom you mention consider Israel to be an occupying power. But that does not make Israel an occupying power. Only their opinion is fact. As the Vaticans opinion for many centuries that the Jews killed Jesus. "Right and wrong" is not up for a vote.
80. #22. Jewish ownership of Judea/Samaria a proven fact.
Chaim ,   Israel   (06.13.13)
#22. Countless international law scholars, including Eugene Rostow, the other authors of U.N. Resolution 242, Professor David M. Phillips have proven incontrovertibly that Israel owns Judea and Samaria. The P.A. itself won't even debate the issue, as MK Danny Ayalon challenged them to. Even they know Israel owns Judea and Samaria.
81. #14. Arab "demographic bomb" a proven hoax.
Chaim ,   Israel   (06.13.13)
#14. You sound like a sincere, if misguided, friend of Israel. You should know that countless Israeli and American studies have proven Jews ar a growing majority in Israel, including liberated Judea and Samaria. In fact, Judea and Samaria Jews have one of the highest birthrates in the Western World. The Arab "demographic bomb" is a ludicrous hoax designed to scare Jews into abandoning our ancestral heartland and turning Israel into a 9 mile wide concentration camp. It won't work.
82. @11 The people of the UK are not interested in the truth
jrebecca ,   modiin   (06.13.13)
Are the people of the UK even aware that Arabs live in Israel as equals? Are they aware that the "west bank" is not part of greater Israel? Their disinterest in the truth makes their opinion less than interesting to us.
83. #80 If you repeat a lie....
Michael ,   Haifa   (06.13.13)
...long enough, some people may even begin to believe it. Wow !! You are far too sophisiticated for me, Chaim. Eugene Rostow and Phillips are expressing opinions. Katzav also believed the legal opinions of his lawyers and probably still does to this day.
84. MK Ofer is correct!
Edward ,   Boston, USA   (06.13.13)
MK Ofer is correct and it's hard to hear. Hence, the name calling against him. But name calling is for children and truth telling for adults. Tragically, events are rapidly proving the MK correct.
85. #80 Chaim - proof your " fact" is fiction
On the Balcony ,   Akko/NY/Kyiv   (06.14.13)
You don't have proof Chaim. Proof is objective. You have "True Belief." Proof is for rational people. Your statements are not rational. Even Bibi does not claim that Israel "owns Judea and Samaria." Neither did Rostow, Stone or any other scholar who based their arguments on secular law. The claim is only that Israel has a better title to the territories than Jordan did. I agree. But Rostow et al do not argue that Israel has a better claim than the U.N. They avoid that argument. Because they cannot win it. Here, by analogy, is why: If you hold the keys to a house for someone and they are not ready to live in it --can someone else move into that house without your permission? The UN held the power to convey the mandate territories remaining after the creation of Jordan. The Partition Plan created two keys for the territory. Palestinian Jews accepted one key and opened the door to Israel. The Palestinian Arabs refused their key but at no point did the U.N. abandon or renounce its right to dispose of the unclaimed key and they have continuously protested against the settlements. Recently the U.N. accorded Palestinians-Arabs the status of State of Palestine within the 1967 borders subject to UNSCR242, in effect, finally giving Palestinian Arabs the keys to the occupied territory. And they accepted it. Foam at the mouth, spit and curse all you want Chaim but you cannot prove that Israel owns the occupied territories. Because it does not. The Palestinian-Arabs own it. And neither the Palestinians nor the world is interested in debating the obvious with “True Believers”.
86. #83 michael - you are right!
solomon ,   bklyn   (06.15.13)
But it is the "Pals" that have been repeating the lies so often that people are starting to believe them. Such as their "nationality" (which began in the 1960's; for years they insisted they were Egyptian, Syrian, but not “Palestinian”), their "connection to the land" (even though they came with the Muslim conquest, then in 1948), and their connection to Jerusalem (they don't mention that for Muslims, Mecca and Medina are numbers 1 and 2). So believe them if you want, but keep the words of your own post in mind.
87. #85 on
solomon ,   bklyn   (06.15.13)
I hate to break this to you, but there are no such people as "Palestinian arabs". They themselves denied it and insisted that they were Egyptian, Syrian, etc. They admitted as much. They came with the Muslim conquest, a few thousand years after the Jews, as well as in 1948 when Jordan needed arabs to take the place of the Jews they were kicking out. And no, they are not the Babylonians or Assyrians or Chaldeans as they claim. Calling someone something does not make him/her that something. Just as calling the area Palestine (named by the Romans after the long gone Philistines) mean there was ever a country called Palestine. And no one spoke of "Palestinian Nationalism" until the Jews were there. It didn't bother anyone when the arabs controlled it. [Facts that you ignore.]
88. #87 We called ourselves Palestinians too
On the Balcony ,   Akko/NY/Kyiv   (06.15.13)
The Jewish Post was the Palestinian Post; the Jewish Agency was the Jewish Agency for Palestine. Today we call ourselves Israelis but Israel was only one of several names that were considered before we decided on the name "Israel." The point being that it does not matter what the Palestinan Arabs/people who were living on the Mandate before it was Partitioned called themselves. They can call themselves whatever they want today: the land is still theirs.
89. #88 on - wrong again
solomon ,   bklyn   (06.15.13)
"Palestinian" gives an impression of legitimacy to a made up-people. The arabs never thought of themselves as separate "Palestinians", but as Egyptians, Syrians, etc. Interesting that you don't respond to their being late comers, and the fact that "Palestinian" is a politically invented construct. Are you are being selective about your facts, avoiding those that prove you wrong? The Jews had always been there, but called their institutions "Palestinian" but not themselves. When Israel was re-created, it became Israel, after the nation that had been there before.
90. #89 Mandate created "Paletinian Citizenship"
On the Balcony ,   Akko/NY/Kyiv   (06.17.13)
The Mandate repeatedly refers to the mandate territory as a state and Article 7 specifically requires the creation of laws allowing Jewish immigrants to become "Palestinian citizens." Look it up.) I do not intentionally select facts and willingly admit factual errors when they are brought to my attention. I do not reply to every comment because many of them are trivial and answering is tiresome. If you check, you will find that the name Israel was only one of several names suggested for our new country and it was selected by a vote of 6-3. Let the Palestinians similarly call themselves whatever they want.
