1. haredim behaving like vicious hatefull ...
robert ,   antwerp belgium   (07.12.13)
people are not real haredim because they are not trembling (harada) in front of God when sinning against fellow Jews
2. Is Israel becoming lawless?
David ,   Montreal, Canada   (07.12.13)
Haredi soldiers being attacked, touristes being raped in daylight in beaches, elders being robbed and beaten....sure national security is the most important thing for the state, but if you having no control within, how can you have control without?
3. They have violated laws for thousands of years.
Michael ,   California, USA   (07.12.13)
It takes a strong government to enforce laws when the Ultra-religious get wild. They have violated laws in every country they ever lived for centuries. They think they report to "higher authorities" and challenge the REAL authorities of the state. It's time to take off the soft gloves and deal with the lawbreakers seriously. The poorly led government in Israel needs to come up with some serious spunk, NOW!!!
4. When law erodes, public loses respect for it
Philosopher ,   Israel   (07.12.13)
Bad things go to far worse
5. Historically,all male Jews participated in the army
Moshe ,   Usa   (07.12.13)
6. How can one help?
A Jerusalemite ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (07.12.13)
How can these Haridi soldiers be protected? The rebbes of the yeshivot must condemn the children's actions. They must declare clearly and unequivocally the such behaviour is unacceptable. The rabbis in the synagogues must forbid the adults from teaching their children to act in such a way. They must forbid the fathers of the boys from permitting such acts. Only then will this behaviour stop. Only then will Haridi children stop behaving like the Arab children that are taught to throw rocks at soldiers.
7. Tisha B'Av and the behavior of Haredim
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (07.12.13)
When you look overall at the behavior of Haredim, not just their behavior towards soldiers but their institutionalized graft, the protection of child molestors and rapists, and their promotion of halacha based on money - well, of course the temple was destroyed and of course Moshiach is not coming anytime soon.
8. The frum must take back our religion from the impostors
Al   (07.12.13)
I have news for you all. The Chassidim in general are impostors. I was raised in a Chassidish yeshiva, today I look at them with utter disdain. Why? Because everything they do is about self promotion. They simply couldn't care less about anyone else unless they can mooch off of them. Don't get me wrong, there are some wonderful people amongst them, but as a group they are what I would call "Special'. Take that welfare teat out of their mouths and make them men. In the final analysis, only their women will change them when they realize that their men are useless. As the women progress in general education, they will refuse to marry these losers. Its happening already..
9. Some Haredi youngsters behaving like classical anti-semites
(07.12.13)
Zealots without menschlichkeit
10. Brian Cohen #7
Robert Haymond ,   Teko'a, Israel   (07.12.13)
I always enjoy your responses, Brian, whether here or on Maan. I always wonder, however, why you don't sign on at Maan with the addition of "Judean People's Front". I think it would as appropriate there, even more so, as in Ynet. What do you think?
11. They Are Another Sect, Not Jews
yaakov ,   TANYC   (07.12.13)
Jews don't act this way to other Jews, period. First, put all the lawbreakers in prison, and then, once they finish their sentences, deport them---this stupid behavior will then stop...
12. This is not theJewish Way- epecially people who call...
Dina ,   USa   (07.12.13)
themselves religious. With all the studying you would think they would use a pen not the sword!!
13. Is it a Mitzvah to attack other Jews?
A Soldier's Mom ,   New York, Jerusalem   (07.12.13)
These "terrorists" would be the first ones to yell for an Israeli soldier if a Palestinian appeared at their door. Leave them to fend for themselves and let's see what happens. Where are the religious leaders of these hooligans/terrorists? Since when is it OK to attack another Jew? They should go to their local shtibels and ask the Lord above to protect these Chareidi soldiers who are trained to defend and protect their fellow Jews. Chareidim, if you are so against the State, go to Damascus. You are needed there and they may have uniforms in your size.
14. Uniforms in Meer Shearim
Noami, Tel Aviv   (07.12.13)
When the drafts started the soldiers requested to be allowed to change into regular clothes before they went home each leave. Members of the government (don't remember who now) turned down their request. I'd like to see any of the politians face a stone-throwing mob on their own, and feel like a walking target when they go home (oh, yes, and look at all the body guards they have). It's easy to be a hero when someone else life is in danger. A small request and it was turned down. Disgusting.
15. haredi terrorists
eddie ,   London UK   (07.12.13)
16. 1 , they are 100 % charedim
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (07.12.13)
It's their hatefull way , ALWAYS , by most of them . And no one of their "rabbis" who condemn this behaviour
17. How this looks to the world.
Isabella1709 ,   Tampa USA   (07.13.13)
No doubt if they are willing to attack their own serving in the military they don't give a damn how they appear to the world in general....this is so cowardly I can scarcely believe these are Jews! I've got news for those that believe themselves so privileged, that will not be forgotten by anyone.
18. Eye for an eye
Dave ,   USA   (07.13.13)
If this happened to a Marine on liberty, his entire platoon would return to deliver a beat down to these haredi mofos. It seems like the IDF are ball less wonders who don't take of their own.
19. Hmm... complaining haredi... it's like black polar bear
Miron ,   USA   (07.13.13)
only more rare.
20. haredim cowards
albert ,   usa   (07.13.13)
I don't understand all over the bible jews join the army ,what is their problem ,maybe we should exchange mea sharim with some of settlements if we happen to reach an agreement with the Palestinians, they will be running back to hide behind those same soldiers they are harassing
21. A Jerusalmite 6
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (07.13.13)
Those "rabbanim" and heads of yeshivot were those behind the demonstrations against the draft bill , vehemently . Don't await something from them , even if they oppose violence , they will , as always , remain silent . Never heard one of them condemning violence against police , "immodest" women , shops , and so on .
22. Military service can be a nightmare for people, not
Rivkah   (07.13.13)
just for Haredim and Orthodox. One needs to be comforted with the knowledge that it will pass and will end in a couple of years and then it is only part time each year and for recalls to active service in national emergencies. Childbirth is unpleasant, too, but it passes. In time, the memories of the cruelties one suffers and the pain will fade. Be glad you are not in the US military where gang rapes of males in showers goes unprosecuted. There is always something to be thankful for.
23. #11 What Planet Are You Living On?
World Citizen ,   the world   (07.13.13)
I'm always amazed by statements like "Jews don't hate other Jews." Of course Jews hate each other. The Ashkenazim hate the Sephardim. Even to the point that the Israeli government used them as guinea pigs in radiation experiments back in the 1950s. All sects hate the Ethiopian Jews. The Haridim hate secular Jews and and vice versa. It's only natural that as an extension Jews generally hate the Christians, Muslims, Palestinians, Africans people and just about everyone else that doesn't bow to World Zionism.
24. The underground army,the haredi soldier's
J.K. ,   Brooklyn USA   (07.13.13)
life is endangered by haredim, who like the muslims, believe, that Jews have no right to a state before the comming of the Jewish santa klose, the haredi soldier has to disguise himself when coming home, when a haredi soldier is on leave,he should carry his rifle,i would like to see the haredim attacking an armed soldier, what a world, in Europe,Jews were afraid of Kozaak soldiers,in Israel Jewish soldiers are afraid of haredi kozaaks.
25. haredi in uniform
Madrie ,   spain   (07.13.13)
a bit of a dummy to go in uniform to the mea shearim. The guy should know from the beginning that the haredim donot accept soldiers. The rabbis should condemn the judging of the guy but they don't say a word, that is just as stupid.
26. 23 Universal Antisemite ! hateful Askhenazim
J.K. ,   Brooklyn USA   (07.13.13)
brought to Israel Millions of persecuted Jews from all over the world, the Jews were persecuted by antisemites like you,in the fifties, many Yemenite Jews suffered from ringworms,at that time all over the world ringworm was treated with radiation,so,the experimentation is only in your sick mind.
27. haredim
larry ,   Israel   (07.13.13)
Return them to the Palestinians , all the Black robed haredim from Jerusalem !!!
28. Don`t protect them
Dave ,   Sao Paulo, Brazil   (07.13.13)
They army should stop protecting these lunatics.
29. Madrie 25 . How should he go home ?
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (07.13.13)
That's one . Secondly , a soldier should be able to go everywhere , in uniform , without any problems . Three , when following your ideas , why should charedim be free to go everywhere then ? without problems !
30. That's what civil wars are like
Aaron Kuperman ,   Baltimore, MD   (07.14.13)
Southern soldiers who remained loyal to the United States had similar reactions when they tried to go home again after the civil war. The "war" on the hareidi launched by Yesh Atid and Bayit Yehudi is leading to a uniquely Israeli variant of asymetrical warfare, and any hareidi who choses to be loyal to zionism rather than the traditions of his community will either have to give up being hareidi or give up being zionist (and the latter will probably be discharged very soon since the last think the IDF wants is traitors in their ranks). Face it, unless the secular fanatics back down, you'll have to confront several percent of the population flying Palestinian flags (shown in the latest demonstration), and while the rabbis are calling for all protests to be peaceful, there are plenty of hotheads who will swtich from throw dirty diaper to throwing things a lot more dangerous. Lapid has convinced perhaps hundreds of thousands of Jewish Israelis that would rather have a one-state solution, meaning an Islamic Arabic state rather than a secular zionist one.
