"The incarceration was difficult, particularly because I still don't understand why I am under arrest. This is very frustrating," David Sitbon said Thursday after the Petah Tikva Magistrate's Court released him to nine days house arrest in Jerusalem.
Sitbon, who is suspected of aiding "Jewish terrorist" Haim Pearlman by breaking into an IDF base and stealing weapons, told Ynet, "I was held in custody 10 days too many."
The suspect added, "The interrogation focused on offenses I committed 14 years ago, when I was 15 years old. The weapon I stole was a stun grenade used to disperse crowds. Arresting someone for that is absurd."
As for his relationship with Pearlman, Sitbon said, "I met him in Jerusalem when I was 15, but at the time the acts attributed to Pearlman were allegedly committed we were hardly in touch. He did not attend my wedding, and I did not attend his.
"It's a shame the Shin Bet and police did not do their homework," he said.
Responding to the court's decision, Sitbon's attorney Ariel Atari said: "My client categorically denies all allegations against him and the court has realized that his acquaintance with Pearlman is an old one, dating back 14 years."
