Rabbi Ovadia Yosef calls on Obama to free Pollard
Shas' spiritual leader Rabbi Ovadia Yosef on Thursday called on US President Barack Obama to free Israeli spy Jonathan Pollard who is serving a life sentence in a US prison.
In a meeting between Shas Chairman Eli Yishai and US Ambassador to Israel Richard Jones, Yishai requested to pass on a message from Rabbi Yosef to Obama which states that Pollard's medical situation was "life threatening" which necessitated shortening his sentence and releasing him from prison.
