A 26-year-old Israeli Arab woman was found dead Wednesday in her apartment near the University of Göttingen, Germany.
According to the local German media, the cause of death has yet to be determined. Authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the woman's death.
The woman, identified as Suwad Hamza, was a medical student. She was apparently killed earlier in the week. A spokesman for the Göttingen prosecution said that "while no signs of violence were evident at the scene, this was a harsh, violent crime." .
Investigators believe the woman was sexually assaulted prior to her death, probably by someone she knew.
Göttingen authorities are now waiting for the autopsy results. One person of interest has already been questioned in the case, but the police said they still have no suspects in the case.
