Olympic team devoid of fencing reps

Israeli fencers fail to make Olympic grade; team to miss fence events for first time since 1988 Seoul Olympics

Israel's national mission to the 2012 London Olympics will not include a fencing team, Ynet learned.

This will be the first time Israeli fencers will be excluded from the team since the 1988 Seoul Olympics.

The decision was made after none of Israel's leading fencers was able to pass the Olympic preliminaries, held in Slovakia.

Brother and sister fencers Delilah and Maor Hatuel were the only ones to truly get close to an Olympic ticket, but both were eventually beaten in the final round of the qualifications.

Two other Israeli fencers who competed in the Slovakia were disqualified in the early stages of the preliminaries.
