The IPS, which is considering Katsav's request to be released from prison to attend his son's wedding this month, required him to meet with a psychiatrist. The IPS is now awaiting the police's stance on the request.

Katsav, who began serving his prison sentence in December, met with a psychiatrist on Tuesday.

The former president, who has refused to don his orange prison jumpsuit during visits, agreed to wear it for the examination.

Despite the IPS' promise that Katsav would not receive any special privileges at the Maasiyahu Prison, he is being held in a bloc that is usually reserved for religious prisoners.
