Mohammed Deif in rare video: Our path leads to paradise
Head of Hamas' military wing is heard saying 'Israel underestimated us, put your faith in Allah and in your ability to win'
Mohammed Deif, the head Hamas' military wing, was heard talking in a rare Hamas video released on Tuesday. Addressing members of the Izz al-Din al-Qassam, Deif said, "You must prepare yourself. Put your faith in Allah and in your ability to win. Israel has underestimated Hamas. We're on constant alert. This path will lead us to paradise."

Deif added that the resistance warriors are on the ground pounding the enemy and that the Palestinian factions' response in the latest round of escalation is the result of many years' work. Immediately after his announcement, a video warning Israel of the consequences of a ground invasion aired in Hebrew and Arabic.
Deif was severely injured in an IDF attack in 2006 and is currently barely functioning. In 1996, he succeeded Yahya Ayyash as the commander of Hamas' military wing. Since then he has masterminded a series of high-profile terrorist attacks meant to avenge Ayyash.
He was behind several suicide bombings in Jerusalem and Ashkelon as well as the abduction and murder of Nachshon Waxman.
