Judge shows sympathy to 'difficult life circumstances'; in similar case, a 28-year-old draft dodger from France released
The Jaffa Military Court has recently released a 21-year-old who defected from IDF service for two years. The release comes after a month of detention, which the judge ruled was sufficient punishment to the young woman, whose difficult life circumstances forced her to earn livelihood as a stripper and call girl since the age of 18.

The woman's attorney, Guy Greenfield, emphasized the judge's ruling came despite the prosecution's seeking further incarceration for the woman: "We are pleased that the court understood that locking the defendant behind bars was not the right thing to do in this case, and the system would do well to examine the suitability of these kinds of defendants to begin with."
In a similar case the judge also ruled that a month of incarceration awaiting trial was sufficient punishment to a 28-year-old resident of France who has dodged the IDF draft for five years. The judge agreed to take into account the man did military service in France, and that he is expected to lose his job unless he returns to Paris next week.
Normally, people who dodge the IDF draft for a few years are sentenced to a few months in prison.
