Palestinian UNESCO demand: Instead of Western Wall, recognize Rachel's Tomb and Cave of Patriarchs as Muslim sites
The Palestinians have gone back on their demand to UNESCO to have the Western Wall recognized as part of al-Aqsa Mosque. A vote on the issue was due to take place on Wednesday, with the US and one other country putting pressure on the Palestinians.
Instead, the Palestinians have submitted a revised proposal requesting the recognition of Rachel's Tomb in Bethlehem and the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron as Muslim sites.
