The IDF issued a statement saying the circumstances of the incident are being investigated.
The soldier collapsed at around 5:00am during a training exercise with the Gaza Division near the Ktzi'ot base from an apparent heat stroke. After receiving initial treatment in the field, he was flown to Soroka Medical Center in Be'er Sheva by helicopter.
Soroka is defining the soldier's condition as serious and stable.
Sunday's incident is the third life-threatening situation suspected to be related to heat stroke since March, when two soldiers died.
Sgt. Mikhail Pesach, 20, from Migdal HaEmek, collapsed at a water park in the coastal city of Holon during a military social outing before later being declared dead by doctors. Similarly, Capt. (res.) Elhanan Brazner also died during a race from the Red Sea to the Kinneret after collapsing from apparent heat stroke.
