Slash to rock Israel in June

Former Guns N' Roses member and one of greatest guitarists in history of rock music will perform at Tel Aviv Exhibition Grounds as part of his 'World on Fire' concert tour.

Slash, one of the greatest guitarists in the history of rock music and a former member of American hard rock band Guns N' Roses, will perform in Israel in June, Ynet has learned.

Slash will arrive for one concert at the Tel Aviv Exhibition Grounds as part of a world tour promoting his new album "World on Fire," which was released in September.

Saul Hudson was born in London in 1965 to an African-American mother and English father. He made his breakthrough in the American world of music when founded Guns N' Roses in 1985 together with Axl Rose, Izzy Stradlin, Duff McKagan and Steven Adler and released its debut, "Appetite for Destruction," which has sold over 28 million copies worldwide.

Despite the changes in the band's composition over the years, Slash remained one of the three original members and for eight years helped turn it into one of the most successful groups in the history of American rock thanks to hits like "Welcome to the Jungle," "November Rain," "Sweet Child o' Mine" and "Civil War."

In the 1990s Slash made a name for himself as a leading guitarist, mostly thanks to the long and complicated solos he used to play in the band's songs. During that period, Slash collaborated with many rock and pop stars, including Lenny Kravitz, Michael Jackson and Alice Cooper.

During his later years with Guns N' Roses, Slash formed the side project Slash's Snakepit and released the albums "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere" and "Ain't Life Grand."

After leaving Guns N' Roses following differences of opinion with lead vocalist Axl Rose, he co-founded the supergroup Velvet Revolver with former Guns N' Roses members Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum and Stone Temple Pilots vocalist Scott Weiland.

In 2010, he released an album titled "Slash," which featured some of his former band members as well as guest musicians such as Ozzy Osbourne, Fergie of The Black Eyed Peas, Adam Levine of Maroon 5, Chris Cornell and Iggy Pop.

In 2012 he released his second studio album, "Apocalyptic Love," in which he collaborated with Myles Kennedy, the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist of rock band Alter Bridge. The two collaborated once again in Slash's third album, "World on Fire."

This will be Slash's second visit to Israel. He first performed here with Guns N' Roses in May 1993. At this stage, he is expected to play only one show, but a second one could be added as part of an event including other musical acts.
