It was refreshing to read this post. I pray that you are right. What I do see is that Arab countries preach viscious racism, even Egypt. They preach Nazi idiology, something that would never be allowed in the US. These Arab countries also preach and teach the young all the medieval racist lore that leads to Jew hatred. Just think about this. If it were Palistinian Arabs that were stolen from thier homeland instead of Palistinian Jews, the world would hate Arabs in the same way it hates Jews. The US has been trying to remedy racism for decades and still there is racism. How can it be possible that Arabs could appreciate Jews as humans if they continue to teach all that European racism? Think about this. The Arab is actually creating a legitimate avenue for racism. One day this will come back to the Arab in not so nice ways and it won't be the Jews who will give it to the Arab. to somebody who is not a fanatic first) a massive public relations campaign on both sides. everybody will be bombarded with messages that both sides need peace. second) a conference between both sides, representing not elected political parties but the entire spectrum of both sides, with the aim of settling the issue based on two states for two peoples. in the end, will require israel to withdraw from the entire west bank including east jerusalem, and will require palestinians to formally give up right of return to israel proper. this will give the palestinians a real country and give the jews a place too. (based on the idea that people who don't live in their own countries, like the jews for hundreds of years, and the palestinians, kurds, etc etc now, become victimized by others). third) a referendum in both israel and palestine on the same day ratifying the document produced by the conference. (and the agreement must be understood by all -- there cannot be any lying, because both sides are going to lose things that they had always dreamed about, ie the destruction of the other side!) . if both entire sides vote yes, then the steps agreed upon by the conference can take place.

Israel CRUSHED the Egyptian forces at the end of the 1973 war. This is what made Sharon a hero and a genious. The Israelis ended up encircling the Egyptian III corps (The elite of that Army) which was 1/3 of that army. and the Israelis actually crossed the Suez canal. Wake up from this wet dream. Deal with the truth. Sadat got the Sinai back. It would have never happened without Sadat and the PEACE treaty.

Egypt is the second largest recipient of US aid in the World, behind Israel. They receive US$2-3Billion in aid annually. That's a lot of taxpayers dollars to be hated. Especially when you consider that the Egyptian government's entire budget is only at $20-something billion. What Mubarek does with the money is more of his problem than any indication of our 'evil' intentions. When the US gives the UK 10-15% of it's governments operating budget, you wouldn't complain I'm sure. Or, I guess you would.

I’m not. What is being done to fix the situation right now? Nothing. Making our lives even more miserable than they are will not turn us into a beacon of democracy, will not make us love Israel, nor will it achieve any sort of peace. Sadly that seems to be the standard policy. Why isn’t the peace process working? Well first off all, whenever we get closer to any sort of solution, an Israeli president gets assassinated, or an election is called. What do the candidates run on? “Not giving anything of Arabs”. That seems to be a very popular campaign strategy. Just look at what Olmert just did, to bail himself out he gets Lieberman on board. Now Palestinians life will even be harder until Olmert or even Lieberman “see the light” and realize that this conflict is un-winnable through military might, but only through negotiations. When will that happen? A month before the elections as usual. And the cycle continues. Your politicians like our politicians worry about one thing only , their own benefits. So what happens next? More Jewish kids and Palestinian kids get killed…. And we keep on pointing fingers at each other and debating who owns what and whose fault was it? Pointless. On our side, honestly, I am speechless about the situation our society is in. it was hard enough to even talk peace before, it is even harder when “people are hungry”. We have an absolute failure of economy, government, and our basic freedoms are non existent. A good step to peace will be at least reducing some of the pressure on the population (yes I understand you need to protect your people), but that does not mean our lives have to be absolutely miserable. Most employees over here have not been paid for the last 9 months and counting. As for the window closing thing, that has to do with religious dimension getting stronger in this conflict, especially thanks to the current American government and their wisdom and vision, which never fails to disappoint……. I think that the conflict is getting more wide spread, and the last thing we need is for this to be a religious conflict – and before anyone says anything, IT IS NOT. You have all the keys to peace. Eventually you will have to decide do you want to separate or not, regardless of who the other side is, forget about slogans, black or white, it is always grey. Palestinians and Israeli’s are extremely tired. It is time for a change.

1000 out of 70 Millions Egyptians!!! The poll is not a scientific one. We don’t have problem with Israel and this is the opinion of most of the Egyptian. We don’t like the way you treat the Palestinians or the Lebanese. A group of Israeli university students visited Egypt recently and they were surprised from the nice treatment from most Egyptians they met. The students told everybody they met that they are Israelis. This was in both Cairo and Alexandria. But from the comments I read in this web site it seems that Israelis hate Egyptians very much and they are just looking for a way to express their nice feelings.
