The initiative, in cooperation with representatives of the gay community in the city, is designed to expose tourists to the many tourist and cultural opportunities on offer in the city.
The website, entitled Visit Tel Aviv Yafo (www.visit-tel-aviv-yafo.com), provides information on cultural events, night life, tourist attractions, restaurants, museums, new venues and more.
In the first stage, the website is available in English, with French, Russian, German and Italian versions planned later on.
The construction and development of the website took place over recent months, in accordance with the 2012 work plan of the Tourism Ministry’s Marketing Administration and within the framework of marketing Tel Aviv in cooperation with the municipality.
Some NIS 2 million ($540,000) will be spent in marketing the site around the world.
As part of the launch activities, the Tel Aviv municipality produced a video clip entitled "Tel Aviv Urban Symphony" that focuses on the non-stop life and activity in the city.
In the past year, the Tourism Ministry invested about NIS 50 million ($13.5 million) in marketing Tel Aviv around the world, while positioning it against other leading world city destinations as a modern city of entertainment, art, history, vacation, architecture, culinary tourism, gay tourism and more.
This promotion has been via dedicated advertising in regional and national media in target countries. Other activities included public relations, hosting opinion-formers and journalists in the city to expose them to the tourism product and the various niche markets.
