'Work quietly and let success make the noise': Remembering Capt. Alina Pravosudova
Capt. Alina Pravosudova, an officer in the Home Front Command, was killed in battle at the Urim military base on October 7, 2023, at the age of 23. Alina, who grew up and was educated in Haifa, stood out from an early age for her radiant personality, joy and boundless energy.
A charming redheaded girl, she was intelligent, gentle and an uncompromising perfectionist who gave her all to every goal she set for herself. From a young age, she distinguished herself as a talented ballet dancer, a dedicated student and a loyal, beloved friend whose company everyone sought.
Generosity and a deep desire to help others guided her every step. As a teenager, she volunteered actively with Magen David Adom, Israel's national emergency medical service, completing numerous training courses and advancing within the organization, driven by a passion for saving lives. Her determination to make a meaningful contribution led her to fight for the opportunity to serve as a combat soldier in the IDF's Search and Rescue Brigade.
Alina went on to complete commanders' training and officer training. In her role with the Home Front Command, she was responsible for maintaining contact with and providing assistance to Bedouin communities in southern Israel. Arriving in villages in her small car, she won the hearts of local residents, built bridges of trust and was warmly welcomed wherever she went.
On the morning of October 7, Alina was serving as the duty officer at the Urim military base. When terrorists began infiltrating the base, she demonstrated extraordinary resourcefulness, courage and leadership. As one of the few soldiers armed at the base at the time, she took up a weapon, directed operations from the command center and maintained remarkable composure. She tried to calm the female soldiers around her, embracing them in their moments of greatest fear, until she was killed in battle.
Her family, loved ones and friends remember her as a true angel and continue to spread the light she left behind through a range of moving memorial initiatives, including dedicating a new ambulance in her name in the Carmel region, organizing a memorial run, holding community activities and maintaining an active memorial page.
Just six days before her death, Alina wrote a short sentence that captured everything she stood for: "Work quietly and let success make the noise." It is the enduring legacy she left behind, one of humble dedication, determination, extraordinary courage and unconditional love for others.
Capt. Alina Pravosudova, of the Home Front Command, was killed on October 7, 2023, at the age of 23.
May her memory be a blessing.
