A life of giving and love: In memory of Master Sgt. Tzvika Lavi
Master Sgt. (res.) Tzvika Lavi, a soldier in the 551st Brigade, died on Dec. 11, 2023, after being critically wounded in the Gaza Strip.
He began his military service in Sayeret Matkal and later served in the Maglan unit, driven by a deep sense of mission, Jewish pride and a desire to make a difference. With his magnetic personality, broad smile and extraordinary love for others, Tzvika bridged the sacred and the everyday, bringing his values into action.
A devoted family man
In civilian life, he chose to work as a social worker, devoting himself to caring for people dealing with co-occurring health and substance use disorders. The hostel where he worked was later renamed “Beit Lavi” in his memory.
Tzvika was a devoted father, a central presence among his siblings and a caring son who was always looking for ways to give love and bring light to those around him. When asked what message he wanted to pass on to his family, he answered with a single word that embodied who he was: “Love.”
His legacy, rooted in small acts of change, attentive listening and a determination to seek the good in every person, continues to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
