Maj. General Aharon Zeevi Farkash is Director of Military Intelligence. In this position he is responsible for operations in the Israel Defense Forces aimed at gathering and analyzing intelligence information.
Farkash briefs the Cabinet and relevant Knesset committees on intelligence matters.
MI maintains systems for gathering and analysis of intelligence independent from other Israeli intelligence agencies, such as the Shin Bet and Mossad. MI assessments are intended to be apolitical and have been known to clash with official government stands.
