Virgo (Aug. 23 - Sept. 22)

Virgo tends toward purity and is the sign of excellence

In the mystical sense, the Virgo was a nun in a past life, and occasionally emulates the behavioral patterns of nuns, such as monasticism and purity, in this life. However, the Virgo also possesses sex appeal and exoticism. Virgo is the sign of excellence, and Virgos consider anything less a failure.

The Virgo's selectiveness and criticism can often drive people crazy. Virgos are so caught up in details, they fail to see the complete picture. They also tend to be overly worrisome and caring. They are professional, punctual, and rational by nature, and are not interested in mysticism and spirituality. They prefer exact science and research, because it is more certain, accurate, measurable, valid, and efficient.

Virgo is the sign of work, achievement, and routine. Virgos want reason and logic, not speculation. James Coburn best displayed the Virgo's need for accuracy in a scene from the 1960 Western "The Magnificent Seven," where the character he portrayed shot a man on horseback. When his partner turns to him and says it was the most impressive display of marksmanship he had ever seen, Coburn the Virgo replies: "It was the worst. I was aiming for the horse."

Switzerland typifies the Virgo sign's traits: cleanliness, order, politeness, medicine, the Red Cross, and the Swiss watch. Switzerland was always an accurate and punctual country.

Love, relationships, and sexuality

Impossible love affairs, "eternal" love that occasionally dissipates, attraction to complex types. Virgos are needy and dependent in relationships, and do not know how to separate themselves emotionally after a breakup. However, a practical, down-to-earth partner is a possibility. The Virgo has a masochistic urge to sacrifice and surrender in relationships, and is constantly longing for love. Behind the Virgo's monasticism hide strong sexual urges, which may erupt unexpectedly. It is important to communicate during sex; verbal expression is an integral part of sexual arousal.

Father figure

The Virgo's father is often paradoxical and introverted, creative and educated. The Virgo possesses a constant need to take care and assist the father. It is a symbiotic relationship characterized by sacrifice and dependency.

Mother figure

Intelligent, curious, communicative, social. However, a sudden rift is possible.

Siblings

Difficult, introverted, somber, and professional. Friction, jealousy, and property and inheritance problems may arise. The siblings are usually negative and doubtful. The Virgo's sibling relationships are characterized by destruction and rebuilding.

Work and career

Virgos will attain positions of authority and management, although this is not necessarily what they aspire to. Appreciation, publicity, and creativity at work are expected, as well as emotional ties with a supervisor. A second career, entailing work with youth and young adults is possible, as well as work in media and communications, high-tech, flight, and computers. Alternately, a career in medicine, psychology, or social work is also possible.

Finances

Disputes with siblings or with young adults and children over money and property will end in an agreement. The Virgo may profit from young adults, teenagers, children, and relationships, all of which are related, in a way, to money and resources.

Children

Very difficult. The children are emotionally complex, creative, and music lovers. Long periods of estrangement, accompanied by feelings of disappointment and betrayal, are a possibility. Feelings of inferiority due to the children are possible as well. In any case, Virgos will make sacrifices and care for their children with devotion.

Self-image

Relatively low, especially among young Virgos, but improves with time. Virgos do not feel deserving, and are more givers than takers. In love, Virgos are alternately difficult and tender. They are the judges as well as the victims.

Residence

Virgos may live abroad for certain periods, and they desire a modern and spacious home, preferably surrounded by nature. Virgos will profit from real estate. There is an aristocratic feel to the home that does not coincide with the Virgos' modest soul and monasticism.

Health

Low iron level, prone to heart problems.

Fashion

The Virgos' attire is modest, homogenous, and perhaps a bit drab, but it is subtle and tasteful as well.

Outlook on death

It is permitted to talk about death, which is related to young people.

Outlook on religion and divinity

An intellectual outlook. A passion for religious motifs and a connection between love, religion, and authority, is possible. Virgos hold a spiritual view regarding God's love for man, and vice versa.

Outlook on the past and future

A detachment from the past, or difficulty in remembering it, is a possibility. The past is associated with society, people, and, perhaps, a better life, while the future is associated with criticism, work, efficiency, and execution.

Sense of time

The Virgos' sense of time is creative, and they are excellent timekeepers. Dualism also exists, and Virgos often live in two different time systems. Time makes them seem younger in appearance and behavior.

Sacrifices, concessions, confusion, and delusions

When it comes to relationships (especially marriages), Virgos are confused, feel failure and pain, and are unable to detach themselves. Feelings of frustration regarding creativity and individuality are also possible.
