TEL AVIV -More evidence of crack-cocaine use among IDF soldiers is surfacing, an IDF official told Ynet.
IDF officials said they are fearful soldiers are now using crack-cocaine in addition to hashish and marijuana, despite successful efforts by military police to decrease the number of drug-using soldiers in 2004.
“Crack-cocaine is a drug that causes immediate hallucinations and its influence is severe, especially on soldiers,” a senior IDF officer said.
However, military sources said the IDF does not differentiate among the various drugs, as the IDF regards all drugs as dangerous.

Military Police Head Brigadier General Miki Barel says he can only imagine the consequences of drug use among soldiers who participate in military operations.
The IDF recently conducted a concentrated drug-prevention week in which military police officers raided dozens of bases and took urine samples from some 2,000 soldiers.
