'Do not fear imprisonment'

Letter drafted by two right-wing rabbis calls for increased anti-disengagement activity to prevent 'expulsion and destruction,' say government 'has declared war on God and his Torah'

This could get violent: Two rabbis called Sunday on disengagement opposers not to fear imprisonment during anti-pullout activities.

Kiryat Motzkin's Rabbi David Meir Druckman and Chabad (Hassidic sect) Rabbi Dov Valfa said in a letter that the anti-disengagement activities involve "great efforts" and may lead to imprisonment.

In the letter, which was circulated to the media, the rabbis said "We will do everything we can in this war of God to prevent the expulsion and destruction, and with God's help we will be the first to go to prison."

"With God's help, after Passover the groups acting against the disengagement will issue clear instructions and practical suggestions regarding what each person can do (without violence of course) for this sacred cause."

The rabbis called on other rabbis opposed to the pullout to sign the letter "to serve as a symbol and example of a 'tsunami' of hundreds of thousands of Israelis who will follow us and fill the prisons the malicious government has prepared for us."

"The government has declared war on God and his Torah, and it is about to destroy Israel and place millions of Jews in grave danger," the letter said. "To carry out this horrific crime, they are corrupting the souls of the dear soldiers and police officers and forcing them to fight against their brothers, in the service of the enemy," the letter said.
