Afghan President Hamid Karzai said during a press conference with U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld that Kabul wants long-term security ties with the United States.
However, both officials refused to answer if the U.S. planned to establish a permanent air base in Afghanistan. (AP)
