Abbas’s newly established pullout follow-up committee warns Palestinians of buying pre-evacuated land from Israelis
Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas warns Palestinians of buying any real estate from private or public Israeli owners in areas intended for evacuation.
Abbas met with the Palestinian disengagement follow-up committee in Ramallah earlier on Wednesday and discussed recent developments in pullout plans.
“The committee warns personages, officials or institutions of trying to buy land or factories from Israelis in the areas intended for evacuation,” one committee official said. “The Authority will not acknowledge any kind of contract signed between Israelis and Palestinians, these contracts are illegal.”
Follow-up reports
The official also said the committee discussed follow-up reports in regard to the evacuation’s administrative, legal and practical aspects.
During the meeting, Abbas
said the Authority continues to prepare for the Israeli withdrawal.
The government has been finalizing its preparations for the day-after so that "Palestinian Authority security teams" will safeguard evicted public property and prevent anarchy, he said.
